who would EVER use this cropped photo of John Sculley, when you could use this full, beautiful picture of him in a suspiciously dark room with way too many 2-liters
LinkedIn-ass photo of John Sculley circa 1979, cropped to his shoulders up, from a slightly low unflattering angle, like how your boss calls you from the airport on Zoom.An incredible full photo of John Sculley holding two-liters of Aspen and Mountain Dew, with an additional eight (8) two-liters on a table in front of him, standing in a suspiciously dark room, with some sofas behind him. I’m genuinely not sure what kind of room this is, or why he’s in there peddling sodas.

Taking some 5× pictures just because, while I still can
Extremely zoomed-in photo of my cute fuzzy dog, Indy, laying down on an orange couch. You can clearly see her sleepy eyes and most of her nose with a hint of her floofy tail along the bottom of the frame. It’s almost too zoomed in to truly appreciate her majesty and beauty.

Not what I would have written but ok
Edited screenshot of Tim Cook’s executive bio: “As CEO, Tim oversaw the introduction of numerous products and services, including new categories like Apple Polishing Cloth, MacBook Pro Polishing Cloth, and Apple Vision Pro Polishing Cloth, and services ranging from Apple Card Monthly Payments for Apple Polishing Cloth to Apple Upgrade for Apple Polishing Cloth. He was also instrumental in expanding existing product lines. Under Tim’s leadership, Apple expanded its global footprint substantially, particularly in emerging textile markets, growing to more than 200 countries and territories with an active installed base of more than 2.5 billion cloths.”

And take a close look at the gorgeous artwork, which I spent an inordinate amount of time on
“Friends of Griffin” podcast artwork. It has the title in shiny silver text in the center, and in the blue background are a bunch of monochrome pixelated icons of dozens of Apple products, new and old.

this is where I post from
Still from “The Cat From Outer Space” (1978) featuring an excellent brown tabby cat from space (and you can tell, because they have a sparkly collar) sitting at a clean space ship console designed for cats, with a bunch of glowing lights and buttons big enough for a paw to press.

interface design is my passion
Screenshot of the system photo picker interface in macOS Golden Gate 27. Where do I even start? There’s a dark gray toolbar on the top, except the Mac is in light mode, so it looks extremely out of place with all the other white elements and the black text in it is really hard to read. The dark toolbar extends underneath the white sidebar to the left, so there’s a dark blurry cloud under it. The text on the top of the sidebar is blurry. The buttons on the bottom floating directly on the scroll view just look a bit weird.

How long did it take me to make an accurate version? Only 25 minutes. It would be even faster if, say, this was my job and I had a template I could just paste numbers/text into. Like when I made featured images for my how-to articles at Cult of Mac. @electrek should retract this and apologize.
A similar-looking human-created infographic titled 'Is Slate going to make it?' with a graph with correct percentages overlaid with an image of two Slate trucks. It has my logo instead of Electrek's, and instead of saying 'Thanks to everyone who voted! Keep the conversation going in the comments,' it says, 'Thanks to everyone who stands up to AI slop!'

Basically, @electrek posted this AI-generated graph of their poll results. The numbers are completely wrong. Blue has 415 votes, green has 824, yet their slices are the same size. Blue should be 15%, not 28.6%. Red should be 25%, not 14.6%. Oh, and the numbers only add up to 98.3, not 100.

⚠️ important load ⚠️
Photo of a semi truck trailer on the highway. There’s a giant wooden spindle of hose or pipe or something chained to the bed. In the very back, there’s a little toy Tonka truck strapped down as well. It looks like it’s been in a fire, as it’s a little crispy. Another angle of the same scene, with a closer side view of the toy Tonka truck.

Oh look, they made Astrology For Men the fuck does this have to do with your marketing project manager job
Screenshot of a website showing my “Core Values Index” profile, with scores assigned to Merchant (Love), Innovator (Wisdom), Banker (Knowledge) and Builder (Power) and some Windows XP-ass graph. Evidently, 64% of my core value energy comes from Love and Wisdom.
“Love in this sense is working toward an inspired vision of what can be, by nurturing the core values in one's self and in others. You thrive at building relationships and providing an inspired vision for those around you. Your secondary core value is Innovator — An Innovator's core value energy is Wisdom. Wisdom is the ability to see the way things are, and discern what to do about it. You accurately assess situations and provide solutions.”
Girl whatever, just give me a damn job.

Conversation with Siri AI:
“Who has the tallest hair in the Cult of Mac Podcast”
“I could not confirm which host on the Cult of Mac podcast has the tallest hair. The hosts of the podcast, also known as The CultCast, include Erfon Elijah, Lewis Wallace, and D. Griffin Jones.
Were you thinking of a specific host, or perhaps a different podcast?”

(The CultCast is not the same as the Cult of Mac podcast, which is a new show hosted by Leander, Lewis and Griffin, not Erfon.)

(Also, my hair is the tallest.)

Also, I took home another stray, an eMac. Disassembled for cleaning after sitting in a garage for some number of years. Not as bad inside as I feared, just needed a good wiping down

Two new eBay purchases: • The Apple Adjustable Keyboard, very weird, eats desk space like an all-you-can-eat buffet • A 2013 Mac Pro, on which I installed Windows 8, just to make it a little more cursed
A pine table in a somewhat unremarkable office room with beige walls and gray carpet. Sitting on it is a beige Power Mac G3 desktop, under a giant Gateway monitor, with the Apple Adjustable Keyboard, split in the middle with big plastic wrist rests, a large number pad on a separate board, the egg shaped ADB Mouse II, and a generic beige speaker. Next to it is the shiny black cylindrical Mac Pro, showing the Windows 8 tile start screen, with a white mechanical compact keyboard and a generic wireless mouse. Hiding beneath the table is a blueberry iBook G3 and an Apple Extended Keyboard II in a box.

Well, guess I won’t be publishing this
This is in reference to news that broke that the Mac Pro is being entirely discontinued. The image is a draft of an article in Wordpress titled, “Two ways Apple could save the Mac Pro.” The intro reads: “Apple, once again, no longer cares about the Mac Pro. Updates are few and far between. It’s hard to justify its existence over the Mac Studio with similar (or better) performance. Apple shipped an updated M3 Ultra and M4 Max Mac Studio last year, and there are rumors of an M5-powered Studio coming later this year. Meanwhile, the equivalent updates to the Mac Pro were seemingly canned. It raises the question of whether a new Mac Pro will ever arrive. I have two theories for how the Mac Pro could make a comeback. Maybe it can be the halo car of the Mac lineup once again. Granted, neither of these ideas seem particularly likely, but either would be better than the status quo — its sad limbo state of a computer that’s too expensive and rarely touched.”

Reflection test: Glossy Studio Display XDR (left) vs. matte ViewSonic 5K (right) vs. glossy 2015 MacBook Pro (bottom) vs. regular glass (top)
A bunch of computer screens sitting on a wooden table. The glass framed picture in the back is almost illegible where it’s reflecting a window and two lamps. The MacBook Pro on the bottom looks nice, but the reflections totally overpower those parts of the screen. The Apple Studio Display XDR on the left has the best contrast, but there are some parts that are a little harder to see. The ViewSonic display (can’t be bothered to look up the model number) looks the grayest and flattest, but doesn’t have any reflections visible at all. There’s also a fake tree to the left and a framed promo shot of a blue 2000 Honda Insight.
