Wow, there's a giant NDA (non-disclosure agreement) up as a Nuit Blanche art installation calling out the silencing of curators and artists who've spoken critically of Israel. It's in the alley off Spadina south of Richmond leading to Cinecycle. By No Arms in the Arts.

Brutal lack of context from @robertbenzie.bsky.social on CBC Frontburner recently saying "maybe in Canada we don't have the tradition of rail travel you have in Europe or even in China." Come on. These were rail routes in 1955. Politicians (especially Mulroney and Chretien) destroyed it.

The report is largely based on documentation of Israel's secret influence activities from 2019-2025 as reported by The Breach, @pressprogress.ca, Haaretz and the New York Times. One example:
Fourth, Israel’s Ministry of Diaspora Affairs funded a secret campaign targeting Canada and the U.S. by making websites for fake groups, along with hundreds of fake social media accounts powered by ChatGPT, according to Haaretz and the New York Times. The campaign spread pro-Israel and Islamophobic messages, portraying Muslims as a threat to the West. Canada’s Deputy Prime Minister at the time, Chrystia Freeland, said this was unacceptable.

Hard not to see this a call for violence from this Juno News writer. Calling for many people to "bring their big dogs and let them get in the faces" of pro-Palestine demonstrators to "scare them." So the idea is to train/direct big dogs to attack certain people and then... what?

As someone who has covered the Al Quds protests for years before COVID — and knew the bylaws prevented illegal occupation of a street without a permit — why don’t members of my community just bring their big dogs and let them get in the faces of the haters. That will scare them more than anything.

1) Israel is not "punishing" Gaza and the response is not "revenge". To protect 9 million Israeli lives, the IDF must destroy the entire terror infrastructure in Gaza, including 25,000 rockets, kilometres of concrete tunnels (built from stolen "aid") and more. >

Things don't need to be Israeli products. See screencap. I also see your review engaged in aspects of normalization, which I take as a reflection of the production itself (like calling the Palestinian a terrorist, focusing on Palestinian attacks, making "the conflict" seem symmetrical, etc).
3) Normalization in the International Context

In the international arena, normalization does not operate all that differently and follows the same logic. While the BDS movement targets complicit Israeli institutions, in the case of normalization there are other nuances to consider. Generally, international supporters of BDS are asked to refrain from participating in any event that morally or politically equates the oppressor and oppressed, and presents the relationship between Palestinians and Israelis as symmetrical [5]. Such an event should be boycotted because it normalizes Israel’s colonial domination over Palestinians and ignores the power structures and relations embedded in the oppression.

Yikes, what a messy correction in the Globe article about the Giller Prize and Scotiabank parting ways. It blends an older correction which introduces a new false claim (that HESEG gives scholarships only to orphans?!?) and then a slightly better, still not very good correction.
Editor’s note: A previous version of this article incorrectly stated that HESEG Foundation funds scholarships for foreign soldiers with the Israel Defense Forces. The organization offers scholarships to former soldiers who have no family left. This version has been updated. (Feb. 4, 2025) This article was updated to correct the description of scholarships funded by the HESEG Foundation. They are given to former soldiers with the Israel Defense Forces who have no family in Israel.
