we have 92% for Scotland (politically), 91% for the Paris Commune (socially) (!), and 93% for the Vatican (economically)

somewhere in the heavens poco the postcode elephant proudly gazes down, knowing that his work on earth was done
A rather scary looking colour photograph from the 1970s of Poco's human twin wearing a full-size Poco the postcode elephant costume, standing in front of Poco's postcode bus, a battle bus encouraging the good citizens of the UK to pass on their postcode because they're not properly addressed without it.

pretty much snap! (really need to try and dive back into hungarian but then again maybe i really don't)
Results for a test on the same words translated into European language. Got all right on Dutch, German, French and Swedish, did OK on other Romance languages, wasn't great at Slavics and Ugrics

reading one of those books that does this kind of thing
Some text on an e-reader, as follows:

Seeing what Castillo was trying to do, Brown calculated the correct angle needed for the truck to hit the barrier and land in the closed lanes on the other side. "Thirty degrees," he told Castillo. But he knew that selecting an angle was not an RZ option, so he calculated the sine of 30 degrees and yelled out the hypotenuse: "42 feet!"

crossed over that rad new non-car bridge in helsinki
At the start of the bridge. I'm taking the photo from the pedestrian pavement. There is a marked out cycle lane to the left, then a couple of tram tracks on the middle of the bridge. It sweeps out over some water. There is the visible mainstay of the bridge further outThe other side of the bridge from Helsinki. The city's standard welcome sign is in the foreground, and the bridge sweeps on. A cyclist in black is on the cycle path.Coming back down the bridge on the Helsinki side. I'm riding a scooter and the handlebars are in viewUncle Fester here, yours truly, wearing a raincoat I put on too late, and sunglasses I likewise took off too late

silverburn had several series of airport style queuing lines set up over the last days, plus a photobooth at the end past the store where i guess you can show off your purchases inside a branded box with all this cringe dross like "what a belter!" and "no scotland no party!" printed all over it
airport style queuing lines inside Silverburn shopping centre, Glasgow on Saturday 15th August. the Sephora shop that opened is along to the right. there is a further set of lines behind the shot

The African killer bee portrayed in this film bears absolutely no relationship to the industrious, hard-working American honey bee to which we are indebted for pollinating vital crops that feed our nation.

It's mostly sandy but there are rocks. The water looks blue and tranquil. There are hills across the water.

a multipack of Walkers "English Bangers & Mash" potato crisps on a supermarket shelfA four row diagram (a well known meme about signs and the signified involving food):

In the first row there is a photo of some fish swimming, and the caption says Stage One: Initially, the sign (image or representation) is a reflection of basic reality

In the next row there are some cooked salmon fillets, with the caption: Stage Two: The sign masks a basic reality. The image becomes a distortion of reality.

In the third row there are some fish fingers in the shape of while fish, and a caption says Stage The: The sign masks the absence of basic reality. The image called into question what the reality is and if it even exists.

Then in the last row there is a packet of Swedish fish Oreos and the caption Stage Four: The sign bears no relation to any reality whatsoever; it is its own pure simulacrum.

hurray for progress
It's a Google Street View screenshot of where the Glasgow Sausage Co once stood. There's a very recent boxy brick block of flats with four storeys, then where the building stood there are trees and a rubbish small park. Banners are dangled from the still extant railings, presumably selling wasp killing services for £25.

prompted by some north americans on some kind of historical scavenger hunt to look up rolland street in maryhill, glasgow, which turns out to have been 200m from my house www.trove.scot/place/170260. there's a famous photograph taken there in 1953 during coronation celebrations
A black and white, clearly long exposure (as all the lights are casting persistent auras), of Rolland Street in Maryhill, Glasgow, from 1953. The street is crowded with people and stalls. The chimneys of the tenements are standing right at the front of the buildings, which isn't typical for Glasgow tenements.

late night wikipedia spelunk on the greyhound racing stadia of scotland, and the chaotic history of powderhall stadium in edinburgh
A screenshot from Wikipedia showing a snippet of the Wikipedia article for Powderhall Stadium in Edinburgh. It says:

"William Lapsley died on 28 February 1903 as a result of an accident in a horse drawn cab on his way to a rugby union international between Scotland and Ireland. The driver of the cab lost control of it on a steep hill and the house bolted and crashed into the basement of a nearby house. Lapsley died at the scene and his wife, though seriously injured, survived. The lease of the Powderhall..."

and then it's cut off, because it's just a snippet. There's crazy stuff in there about how it was a venue for professional "pedestrianism" for the longest time, and also how they tried to stage "horse trotting" races in the 1870s but had to stop because this was too dangerous even for the 1870s.

that red pedestrian signal does not mean what you think it means because somebody has changed the direction of a chunk of the pedestrian lights in glasgow so they refer to the street at right angles to the one suggested by established visual language and i'm surprised people aren't dying as a result
A photo of a cross street in central Glasgow (St Vincent Street and Wellington Street). It's nighttime and there is a red pedestrian signal visible across the street. The red means go because it's actually for the main street to the right ninety degrees to the direction you are crossing, because some public authority (Glasgow? Scotland?) has decided to change the street language we've been familiar with for decades and make pedestrian signals be right next to where you are, at low height, more often than not completely invisible, and it has to be killing people

in "glasgow bus drivers will walk off rather than tell you anything" news, i just had to tell this bus driver he should maybe announce what's happened to all the rest of the passengers after he managed to skewer his own bus with a bus stop
It's a Glasgow bus, speared by a metal strip from a bus stop. It's late in the evening. I just yeet-signalled the folk in front off after the bus driver muttered to himself and phoned back to base telling me and me only they probably weren't going to be going anyplace for a while.
