More E3 2005! Poker was all the rage! 2K had a "World Poker Tour" table at the booth and Johnny Chu (who would later help me get into Intific) was running the table! Also, @timsweeneyepic.bsky.social had to carry his own computers to and from the expo center daily. Now he's worth $10B+.

Google Photos (rudely) informed me that, 21 years ago, I was in Los Angeles. And so I was! What a time to be alive. E3 2005... so long ago it feels like someone else's life. @sorenjohnson.bsky.social was demoing Civ IV, I was demoing Pirates! Xbox and E3 boothcraft was peak.

There's a lot of horrific stuff going on. Palate cleanser. We don't talk enough about how great this album was. One of my all time favorite OST's and certainly the best to ever come from a film that was otherwise completely forgettable. Who else rocked this in the 90's?

2025 wrap-up and accountability post. - Improved my avg daily step count from 8,896 to 13,666. - Walked 4.98 million steps in 2025 (vs 3.25 million in 2024). - Hit my step goals 98% of the time (versus 29% in 2024). - Improved my VO2 max from 30.9 to 35.6. - Went through two pairs of Hokas (!!)

"Marvel Cosmic Invasion" on Steam is incredible. I've been waiting most of my adult life for a game like this -- Guardian Heroes meets the original Data East Captain America brawler. Can't wait for my kids to come home from college and put this on the living room TV. Well done @tributegames.com!

The Google Skills UI and cloud VM lab set up is very slick. Did a quick Docker CLI refresher and am now going to jump into K8s. I can see myself doing a lot of training in this environment. My 30+ years ago Unix admin classes in undergrad came back quickly. Still can't cope with vi, though.

Had to explain my gamedev background to a colleague from my current industry. This summed it up well. I realized games instilled a lot of passion and emotional connection that expressed in - frankly, *unprofessional* ways in my earlier career. That is not who I am today. But I miss it. Sorta.

He was also Andy Serkis in Black Panther playing "Ulysses Klaue" - a comic book villain I knew from a 1980's coloring book as "KLAW" (the "murderous master of sound!") They should have kept him around just to get the costume on camera.
