At lunch today, I jumped into Control Resonant for 5 minutes and set the difficulty down... just so I could beat the game's first boss, the Artist, and move on. I just can't anymore with early, hard bosses. I'm too old. But I do feel weird about it. #ControlResonant

God, what a weird time to be reading through @greatdismal.bsky.social's Sprawl Trilogy. Just finished a re-read of Neuromancer, almost done with Count Zero (never read it before). What must have seemed cool and impossible in the 80s in regards to AI now seems terrifying, prescient... and 100% true.

The Star Warsy-ness of Zero Company is great, but it is not WHY the game is great. Usually I want a Star Wars version of a game. In the case of Zero Company, I want its awesome combat system in an un-Star Wars setting. Like, say, the trenches of WWI, or 1880s Montana.

Had an appointment with a new PCP today, just to establish care. When the nurse told me my weight I wanted to ask for an attorney. I've weighed over 300 pounds 3 times in my life, so I consider myself something of an obesity expert. Ain't no way that's happening again. Time for a blood sacrifice.

Finally saw Supergirl. So fun! Of course the seat controls were broken, the soda was flat, and they didn't have Sno-Caps (subconsciously recommened by @gailsimone.bsky.social), which saddened both my stepdaughter and me. Still worth it! More Alcock, Mamoa and Ridley plz.

Beat @007game.ioi.dk. Incredible experience, a fantastic Bond game AND movie all in one. Feels like the culmination of a journey I first started with IO Interactive 26 years ago with Hitman: Codename 47. It's pretty rare I'm inspired both as a player and a dev, but IO is a rare studio.

Little public service message for anyone playing Dragonkin (at least on Xbox): the game seems to default to Performance mode. You definitely want to switch that to Quality. Crisp visuals, no discernible slowdown.

I love @arcraiders.bsky.social, including the tension and danger of PVP. As a dev, I know how challenging it can be to balance a game like this. I just wish, you know, it took a dude with a lvl 1 Stitcher just a TAD longer to kill a lvl 75 Raider with a lvl IV Anvil and a heavy shield... 😵‍💫

Finally fulfilling a dream - traveling cross country via train. Just left Boston, and after a layover and switch to another train in Chicago, I'll be arriving in LA on Monday. Then flying home the next day. 3 nights in 2 separate sleeper cars. SO ready!
