Exactly. There’s also the issue of wildlife on the roads. So if more people are driving in the dark in the morning, my expectation is more collisions with deer, elk, etc. on morning commutes. Hopefully someone will be tracking that here in AB this fall.

What are we even doing? “At MIT, Harvard, or any other school, supervising an undergraduate researcher is a lot of work, costs a lot of money, involves a lot of meetings, and the results are not reliably excellent. Asking Claude is easier, faster, and may produce better results.”

1/ Last May PM Carney announced plans to bulldoze through major projects despite harms to nature & wildlife. The public pushback was huge. In response the feds said they will not move ahead with proposal to authorize projects that could impact the recovery of endangered wildlife. Victory? Not yet.

I’ve been to every province - except Newfoundland and Labrador - at least once. Most multiple times. I’ve also been to Yukon twice. (But, yup, I’ve never been to Ottawa.) 🍁 Anyhow, we have an amazing, huge country. And I hope more Canadians get to see more of it and meet their fellow Canadians. 🇨🇦

Not only is Canada 🇨🇦 exacerbating climate change by ramping up the fracking extraction and export of "natural" gas, but we're also using renewable electricity to support that industry while simultaneously destroying protected areas. We could do so much better. We have to do so much better. 🌎

Because I had to drag a ladder out onto the porch - took me a while to get around to pics (there are three males on the nest at this point!) but love this nest of Western Paper Wasps (Mischocyttarus flavitarsis) First time I've seen a queen reuse an old nest (more than one season old too!) #inverts
