this is my impression though. i'm not as confident in Chinese, so I'd be curious to hear what native /more proficient speakers think. (incidentally, in japanese people tend to just say "AI", even though 人工知能 is also a Japanese word. But since people just use the English phrase, the flavor is lost)

something i've been thinking about for years: in Chinese, 'artificial intelligence' is: 人=person 工=labor/work 智能=intelligence 'human-made intelligence'. "Artifice" implies surface-level/fake; "人工“ _can_ also mean fake, but also labor is implied. Somewhere in there, human work is acknowledged

do you get the impression that this is happening across franchises? It seems like larger (especially AAA-level) devs are in a weird trap: they may want to innovate but their bosses insist on more of the same because that's a safe way to make money. that's my sense though; what's your experience?
