Although enrollment in the 21-day challenge is now closed, any members in our main Dev Pods program (DevPods.gg) are also welcome to participate Here's the kickoff video, if anyone's curious to see the shape of what we're doing together for this project. In 21 days the game will be released, free 😀

It feels good to make and learn things together I set up this approach to team gamedev at Carnegie Mellon in 2004 and Georgia Tech in 2010, spent my 30s doing it independently for 100s of games online This is our first time trying a 3-week version. Under 1 hour left to join ⏱️ devpods.gg/challenge/

I've met people who are smart, talented, had training or education, but didn't make stuff. It's about making stuff. Having imperfect games you released is better than unfinished 'perfect' stuff not out there. Come do something badly! 😂 21-day challenge, 1 hour left to join ⏱️ devpods.gg/challenge/

Tutorials are a solid way to start, but original stuff is more exciting. I help people new to navigating that process Jams are also great! Though many people find it's too short for learning new things. So we host a longer timeline 2 hours left to join our 21-day challenge ⏱️ devpods.gg/challenge/

Some people feel not ready for a team until they can make entire games alone. Not true, even at pro level! Whatever part of a game you make, teammates value you doing that I help people with their first team experience bigger than a jam. Let's do one in 3 weeks 3 hours left ⏱️ devpods.gg/challenge/

Only 21 hours left to be part of our 21 day challenge, where I'll help you finish a game with a remote team in less than a month. The game will release free, you keep rights to anything you make, do as little or as much as you'd like. Learn our processes! Beginners welcome. 👉 devpods.gg/challenge

One reason solo projects drag out is it only affects us. We care about other people, kinda more than ourselves 😅 When we open up creativity to teammates we raise our standards. They do, too! Try it out. You'll see how much more fun it is with a team Game starts this weekend devpods.gg/challenge/

Even if you have no interest in the game industry or selling indie games on Steam, making games can be a great way to spend time being creative with your friends who might live all over, never be available at the same time, yet still develop cool, original things together you can freely share online

Many people can code or make digital art. What sets someone apart is: can they work well with others? There's no other way to prove that than doing it. It can't be done alone, and it can't be done with a video course. 3-week team project starts this weekend. Beginners welcome! DevPods.gg/challenge

The 230+ games we made in Dev Pods are learning and practice projects - free games, no skill requirement, people do what they want. Longer than jams for time to learn 3-week version starts this weekend to see if it fits better for some people than our usual several month format DevPods.gg/challenge

Gamedev excitement may fade if you feel stuck too long in the tutorial area I host practice teams to help people out of that stage: beginner-friendly, no skill bar, do anything you'd like, game released free, I ensure it releases New 3-week challenge game starts this weekend: devpods.gg/challenge/

We realized it's tough to try something only available by subscription--or few month timeline--so we're trying a 3-week condensed version of how our system works Unlike a jam I'll be teaching our production and teamwork process, how we handle ultra-specific credits, and more devpods.gg/challenge/

For Kid Bubblegum, I used what I learned in this course by @chrisdeleon.bsky.social. And it helped a LOT. Highly recommend it to anyone trying to finish a project without knowing exactly when and how it'll be happening. www.udemy.com/course/compl...

HomeTeam works somewhat like a global game jam albeit with much more adult-friendly timelines and clearly organized teams, projects, and workloads where everyone contributes as much, and whenever they can - around whatever schedule they have to work with!

A question come up this morning from a member of HomeTeam GameDev, but it's one that I've seen recurring over the years from past student clubs and other people navigating this decision so I decided to share my thoughts as a public video. There's no one-size-fits-all answer, but things to consider:

I find most short-term game jams don't align with my schedule too well between gigs which is why I've been enjoying doing some volunteer game audio work where you have longer time frames and people can contribute whatever and whenever they can. Examples are @hometeamgamedev.bsky.social & P1 Games

I’m not a game dev, but I took this course earlier this year because I wanted to learn project management 101. I use the techniques from the course every week in my dev job. I especially recommend it for adhd people — chris’ methods clicked in a way other PM courses I tried didn’t. check it out!
