Just picked up "Race With the Devil" by The Gun. Was surprised I'd not heard of them as this is the origin for Girlschool's cover version (which I didn't know was a cover) & the BOA LP of the same name. The Gun is also the origin for the Baker Gurvitz Army, as both Gurvitz brothers are in the band.

Recently picked up this odd Gram Parsons single. Side 1 is a 3-song medley that plays at 45rpm. Side 2 is where things get weird. If you want to hear Gram & Emmylou talk to a DJ and/or Gene Parsons perform "Hot Burrito #1," you have to remember to switch the speed to 33-1/3. Or you'll be sorry!

Got these copies of The Story of Pop just for the covers. The Marc Bolan cover is really lovely with a nice photo layout inside. Otherwise, there's not much content. The Monkees story is about the genius (?) of Don Kirshner & Suzi's story is simply about women in rock. Anyone remember this zine?

Someone told me "Bluesky is just like Twitter." I argued that was untrue on the basis that last time I had a Twitter account most times I got a new follower their bio said "single & looking for fun" & here when I get a new follower it tends to say something like "professor of rare moths".

Sir Horace Gentleman told me The Automatics became The Specials on the way to their first gig with the Clash. Apparently there was already a band called The Automatics with a record deal & on the day of the show they got a letter saying they'd be sued if they used the word Automatics in their name.
