WISHLIST SKRUB SQUAD @devonwiersma.bsky.social · 09/10/2026Hello I am on vacation in Japan and conciously trying to be offline throughout it. That said there is some very very exciting SKRUB Squad stuff coming up this month I will be attempting to keep up on. Here's a picture of some roofs in Osaka to keep you busy until then. 050
WISHLIST SKRUB SQUAD @devonwiersma.bsky.social · 09/10/2026Ok I should be sleeping but this is so important: if you are a worker in this industry (especially a senior) you MUST know your rights and those of your coworkers! Even just being ignorant them can actively harm the coworkers trying to fight for their own protections! Ignorance is NOT an excuse! 1110
WISHLIST SKRUB SQUAD @devonwiersma.bsky.social · 09/10/2026The Great Contradiction in the 'progressive' manager: your station puts you at odds with the act, but being pro-union without openly supporting organization internally gives you safe, plausable deniability while expecting them to shoulder the weight You're not pro-union without organized employees! 1132
WISHLIST SKRUB SQUAD @devonwiersma.bsky.social · 09/10/2026Organizing your workplace is immediately putting a target on your back. It's delicate! A poorly-worded Slack message or the wrong thing to the wrong person can destroy everything for you and others. Treating it like petty, personal playground politics displays total ignorance about the process. 1112
WISHLIST SKRUB SQUAD @devonwiersma.bsky.social · 09/10/2026A noteworthy thing is how seniors can sabotage efforts out of ignorance about rights. Yes the line can be unclear and varies based on law, but many people move to senior positions ignoring the impacts (e.g. union-eligibility) — it is vital to know your rights and be critical about promotion offers. 2141
WISHLIST SKRUB SQUAD @devonwiersma.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Steppies pt. 2. I can't tell if I got better or if some of the snapping bugs were fixed, but this was much easier this time around 052
WISHLIST SKRUB SQUAD @devonwiersma.bsky.social · 03/10/2026I call this one "POV you're your best friend Trevor who offered to film some sick skate footy for you" 100
WISHLIST SKRUB SQUAD @devonwiersma.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Playing with some Darkslides + the advanced editor on some actual tricks 100
WISHLIST SKRUB SQUAD @devonwiersma.bsky.social · 02/10/2026This guy brags about being "the last candidate to register for the election" for two elections. His policies range from "bi-annual Police Martial Law Day" to "Patreon-funded Fuel Cell Factories" to "I don't know so I'm just making things up at this point" authorpaulcollinstorontomayor.weebly.com 110
WISHLIST SKRUB SQUAD @devonwiersma.bsky.social · 02/10/2026This 21 year old's list of absolutely batshit unhinged policy ideas could fill a library hartley4mayor.netlify.app 220
WISHLIST SKRUB SQUAD @devonwiersma.bsky.social · 02/10/2026Oh I guess they added Darkslides now??? This is so fun?????? 110
WISHLIST SKRUB SQUAD @devonwiersma.bsky.social · 02/10/2026Little buggy yet, but I added some of these visuals to the loading screen so it feels more updated to the rest of the game! 051
WISHLIST SKRUB SQUAD @devonwiersma.bsky.social · 01/10/2026updated some UI to be less debuggy, so you can view your processed cardboard boxes in a more user-friendly way. 031
WISHLIST SKRUB SQUAD @devonwiersma.bsky.social · 01/10/2026was messing with some shaders and accidentally stumbled into a fun little pencil-y shader 030
WISHLIST SKRUB SQUAD @devonwiersma.bsky.social · 01/10/2026THIS IS NOT A DRILL: I AM DISCOVERING TECHNIQUES UNKNOWN TO MANKIND. I promise this trick is NOT what you expect. 2194
WISHLIST SKRUB SQUAD @devonwiersma.bsky.social · 30/09/2026funny seeing my Steam graphics and remembering that my artistic sensibilities are predictable af. It's just primary colors and cartoony visuals all the way down 041
WISHLIST SKRUB SQUAD @devonwiersma.bsky.social · 30/09/2026In an attempt to "do it right" I made it so all my objects in my prototype automatically update their properties when assigned new data in the editor (vs. updating it at runtime initialization). This makes setup on objects much less prone to human error and easier to work with in general. 031
WISHLIST SKRUB SQUAD @devonwiersma.bsky.social · 29/09/2026🚨 COOL NEW ART ALERT 🚨 @peenortacus.bsky.social has been super hard at work with some amazing character art for #SKRUBSquad! I'm so excited to plaster these lil guys all over the game! 0176
WISHLIST SKRUB SQUAD @devonwiersma.bsky.social · 17/09/2026Big fan of how many video game terms are actually revealed to be so stupid when you explain them in plain language 040
WISHLIST SKRUB SQUAD @devonwiersma.bsky.social · 15/09/2026Now that the food processing system is in place, setting up new types of processing has been relatively easy. Here's a video of me processing a hot dog into various other forms of meat. 021
WISHLIST SKRUB SQUAD @devonwiersma.bsky.social · 15/09/2026Finally got my food processing system into a usable state! Now I can build ingredients out of data and they can be processed into new types of food ("ingredients" being anything from actual food, to random crap one might find lying around) 091
WISHLIST SKRUB SQUAD @devonwiersma.bsky.social · 13/09/2026Good news! The Rot has been implemented 074
WISHLIST SKRUB SQUAD @devonwiersma.bsky.social · 11/09/2026Great thing about working on many projects is you build a library of functionality that follows you. For example, my audio system (sound on 🔊) manages all audio of all types and has followed me on every project since Bombing 2. My prototypes have a scalable SFX system in like two minutes of setup. 1102
WISHLIST SKRUB SQUAD @devonwiersma.bsky.social · 11/09/2026I've been feeling like there's a couple parts of the look missing from this prototype. One thing I wanted is something to give a bit of crunch to the look, so I implemented a posterization. I'm also trying out dithering pass on top (pic 2) but not sure if I like it more than the posterize alone 🤔 011
WISHLIST SKRUB SQUAD @devonwiersma.bsky.social · 11/09/2026After many failed attempts throughout various projects I have FINALLY implemented AND understood the animation re-targeting process! Not nearly as hard as I thought but just required a bunch of specific and obtuse steps Thankfully now I know how to do it so it's at least de-risked going forward 🙏 031
WISHLIST SKRUB SQUAD @devonwiersma.bsky.social · 10/09/2026Recording some SKRUB Squad trailer footy with @eljchan1221.bsky.social and she found a wonderful bug. It's like spinning a basketball on your finger or something 072
WISHLIST SKRUB SQUAD @devonwiersma.bsky.social · 09/09/2026gamedevs seeing employment practices discourse in the year 2026 1479
WISHLIST SKRUB SQUAD @devonwiersma.bsky.social · 09/09/2026it's easy to forget that the main cast are all supposed to be preteens until you remember that every woman they meet is usually like a foot taller than them in wide shots (two feet if you're counting hair) 040
WISHLIST SKRUB SQUAD @devonwiersma.bsky.social · 07/09/2026Wasn't super happy with the previous implementation - it was just calculating time using real-world time and I noticed sometimes it seemed to have a tendency to skip events if the clock ran too fast. I tied the tick to a coroutine instead which seems to be much more stable (and added day names) 021
WISHLIST SKRUB SQUAD @devonwiersma.bsky.social · 07/09/2026Built a world clock and tied it to an event system that raises events based on world time, so I'm trying to see what a workflow built on top of that architecture could look like. Also trying to properly plan out systems before building stuff around them (like a normal, good developer should do) 161
WISHLIST SKRUB SQUAD @devonwiersma.bsky.social · 07/09/2026Something I've been imagining is needing audio zones where music dynamically fades in/out as you move between spaces, so I set up a simple script to handle that (sound on 🔉) 141
WISHLIST SKRUB SQUAD @devonwiersma.bsky.social · 06/09/2026as I'm winding down a bit on SKRUB Squad (or at least as much as I can for now) I'm starting to pre-pro/prototype some new stuff A look I had in mind is depth-based pixelation to simulate a sort of pixelated Depth of Field, and it looks pretty cool 171
WISHLIST SKRUB SQUAD @devonwiersma.bsky.social · 06/09/2026you can do it on things you can't even grind or skate on too, which is extra cool 121
WISHLIST SKRUB SQUAD @devonwiersma.bsky.social · 06/09/2026the transfer opportunities are crazy now 321
WISHLIST SKRUB SQUAD @devonwiersma.bsky.social · 06/09/2026god gives the strongest ankles to his toughest skaters 111
