Violet Oil Beetles, found on Higher Comfort nature reserve. They like species-rich grassland and woodland edges, which are exactly the habitats we're developing on the nature reserve. They parasitise solitary bees, so are an indicator of a healthy wild bee population.

Thanks to the generosity of three very talented artists, we're able to sell these beautiful cards on our website. All proceeds go towards preserving and enhancing habitats on the Culm Measures and raising awareness of their importance.

5 cards, depicting stonechats, a marsh fritillary butterfly, willow tits, a hare and whitethroats.

Important statement from @kentwildlife.bsky.social about the way that the government is deliberately misrepresenting what has happened at Ebbsfleet.

DEFRA pulled the Sustainable Farming Incentive last night, with no notice. This will be a great loss for landowners trying to improve habitats, financial devastation for some environmental consultants and a great loss for biodiversity. Dyson and Clarkson don't care. There will be no protests.
