Eggesford Hunt terrierman Tom Bounsall was convicted of careless driving after his quad struck a hunt saboteur from Devon County Hunt Saboteurs during an Eggesford meet. That wasn't his only conviction. Read the full story - link below. www.huntsabs.org.uk/eggesford-in...

Very likely, one of the Dartmoor Hunt's last meets of the season is generally Cornwood Common.

The Hunt returned to the farm via the New Wastes and the Water Treatment works and packed up around 8:30am. 04/05

Just before they entered the moor we were informed by a rider that trespass was illegal and they were calling the police, but after being lectured on what civil trespass was they decided they were going to call the police ‘later’. 03/05

With their 'fun' interrupted Gosling made a run for it through the meet at Yadsworthy Farm and up onto the moor, where the already poor conditions continued to deteriorate. Heavy rain and 40mph gusts meant that visibility was very poor. 02/05

Dartmoor Hunt 29.08.26 Harry Gosling and the rest of the Dartmoor Hunt got a surprise in the early hours of the morning as we appeared out of the darkness right next to them, as they were holding up Grange Plantation and drawing the hounds through the woodland. 🦊🧵01/05

They also recently withdrew charges against Tom Bounsall and Jake Crabb for a dig-out of a badger sett during an Eggesford Hunt meet in Nov 2024 - much more on that and all the damning footage to follow. 06/07

Despite Bounsall's role in the bolting of the fox, the CPS chose not to proceed with charges against him. 05/07

110

Devon County Hunt Sabs @devoncountysabs.bsky.social · 28/09/2026

Bounsall also features in the footage we posted earlier of the Eggesford Hunt on Boxing Day bolting and chasing a fox, for which then-Eggesford huntsman Jason Marles was convicted. 04/07

Marles is now emigrating to New Zealand to carry on hunting in a country where this vile bloodsport is still legal. The other individuals shown in this footage are all still active members of the Eggesford Hunt. 16/18

To answer the question raised in Channel 4's coverage of this exact incident back in January: This isn't a case of individual bad apples. It's a rotten orchard. 15/18

Devon County Hunt Sabs @devoncountysabs.bsky.social · 28/09/2026

Heard's wife, a veterinary physiotherapist, is the daughter of Julian Barnfield, the head of the British Hound Sports Association. Make of that what you will... 14/18

100

Devon County Hunt Sabs @devoncountysabs.bsky.social · 28/09/2026

Heard should have been held to account, not only for his role in bolting the fox, but also as the landowner, for whom there is a separate offence category in the Hunting Act. 13/18

100

Devon County Hunt Sabs @devoncountysabs.bsky.social · 28/09/2026

The CPS decided - for whatever reason! - not to prosecute Lloyd Heard and Tom Bounsall for this incident, despite their clear involvement. 12/18

100

Devon County Hunt Sabs @devoncountysabs.bsky.social · 28/09/2026

Even when cases get to court, they are frequently withdrawn or watered down by the Crown Prosecution Service. In any case, a conviction results in a paltry fine and ultimately does not deter the hunts. 11/18

100

Devon County Hunt Sabs @devoncountysabs.bsky.social · 28/09/2026

We're very grateful to the officers who saw this prosecution through. However, the vast majority of cases we bring to Devon & Cornwall Police are allowed to run out of time or fail because of mistakes and delays in their investigations. 10/18

100

Devon County Hunt Sabs @devoncountysabs.bsky.social · 28/09/2026

In over twenty years of the ban, we believe this is the first conviction of a huntsman in Devon for illegal fox hunting... Yet these hunts are out two or three times a week doing exactly the same thing. 09/18

100

Devon County Hunt Sabs @devoncountysabs.bsky.social · 28/09/2026

Drone technology is enabling us to capture more of these incidents on film (lots more footage to follow in the coming weeks...). Prosecutions, though, are very much secondary to what we do. Why? The law will not stop hunting. 08/18

100

Devon County Hunt Sabs @devoncountysabs.bsky.social · 28/09/2026

Make no mistake: This sort of incident happens all the time. Not every so often. Not 'by accident'. Not 'when hounds veer from the trail'. 𝙏𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙞𝙨 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙝𝙪𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙙𝙤. If you have any doubt about their intent to hunt foxes, watch this footage. 07/18

100

Devon County Hunt Sabs @devoncountysabs.bsky.social · 28/09/2026

Amazingly, the fox managed to evade capture and ran straight past two of our foot sabs on the farm track. Sabs remained in position to block the hounds' path when they arrived on the fox's line. 06/18

100

Devon County Hunt Sabs @devoncountysabs.bsky.social · 28/09/2026

While the hounds chased the fox, Marles and the others walked back to the farmyard, where Marles donned Heard's jacket as a disguise, having realised that our drone had filmed the whole thing. 05/18

100

Devon County Hunt Sabs @devoncountysabs.bsky.social · 28/09/2026

After a few minutes of digging, the fox was bolted from the rubble and ran into the surrounding scrub, followed by the pack of hounds. 04/18

100

Devon County Hunt Sabs @devoncountysabs.bsky.social · 28/09/2026

Landowner Lloyd Heard and terrierman Tom Bounsall were filmed by our drone moving the rubble and digging at the ground in an attempt to get at the fox, while Marles and the hounds waited to resume the chase. A young child was watching the entire time. 03/18

100

Devon County Hunt Sabs @devoncountysabs.bsky.social · 28/09/2026

The footage that led to Marles's conviction was filmed by our sabs on Boxing Day last year. Hounds had chased a fox to ground in a large rubble pile at Pudson Farm, on the edge of Okehampton. 02/18

Huntsman David Lewis looked more defeated than ever when he saw sabs turn up. Instead of attempting to hunt fox cubs in front of us, he climbed dejectedly back into the hound van and drove straight back to the kennels. Job done! 02/04

In true Stevenstone fashion, hounds spent some time on the line of deer while the hunt were arguing amongst themselves. Sabs had eyes on hounds throughout. “How the fuck did they know we were here?” 🤷‍♂️🤫 02/04

Stevenstone Hunt sent packing. 12/09/26 Led by violent drunkard, Anthony Hemmings, the hunt set off from Hoarestone at 8.30am, drew the wooded valley east of the meet followed by a large maize field, and reluctantly boxed up before 10.30. 🦊🧵01/04

If it's not hosting vegan festivals on shooting estates, or putting music stages next to badger setts, it's legitimising a genocidal settler colony, and being ableist to top it all off. Nice one Vegan Camp Out. Don't go to this shit.
