Inappy, the mascot of Inazawa city, is yellow like autumnal ginkgo leaves, has green ashitaba leaves for hair, and wears the skimpy traditional costume of the city's annual "nude festival".

A smiling yellow mascot wearing a white loincloth and a green hat stands in a park.

22PokopokoDan are an all-cat punk band based in Tokyo.

Orange and pink cats with guitars flank a yellow and green cat singing. They are in front of a crowd waving their hands in the air.

Moguharu, a massive mole, is the mascot for Akagi Shrine in Kagurazaka, Tokyo.

A black and purple mole mascot stands in front of a big red torii gate.

Possibly my favorite summation of Pride

Years ago I was at New York Pride and I remember running into this couple and they told me they drove like five hours to be at Pride and I was like, “Five hours? Why would you drive five hours?” And he said to me, “This is the one time a year and the only place where I can hold my partner’s hand and kiss my partner in the street without having to look around first. It’s the only place. I don’t have that anywhere else.” One time a year. One place. This is it. And that’s what Pride means. - bob the drag queen

The Dreaming Sharks Time! 🦈✨ ◆ 🌙 ◆ ☀️ ◆ ⭐ ◆ I've finished these three artworks of my silly shorks friends, and I hope to explore and tell the story and world I've thought up for them in more depth. 🌊✨ #Art #Sharkfolk #Sharks

🌙 Roberto, the great hammerhead shark, I thought his cheeky pose subtly referred to the shape and symbolism of the scorpion. Also inspired by the major arcana: The Moon.

---

The Hammerhead Shark Time! 🦈✨

Aria to Roberto - “Do you know what's funny when you hug me? I like to hear your big heart beating, it calms me down.”

🌙 Roberto has a heart that is as big as his height, an excellent emotional supporter! ✨

☀️ Tiago, the tiger shark, I thought his relaxed pose subtly referred to the form and symbolism of the crab. Also inspired by the major arcana: The Sun.

---

The Tiger Shark Time! 🦈✨

Roberto to Tiago - “Dude, you came like the sun at six in the morning, bringing clarity when I needed it most!”

☀️ Tiago is the one who brings clarity when his friends spend too long in the shadows of insecurity. ✨

⭐ Aria, the zebra shark, I thought her introspective pose subtly referred to the symbolism of the sign of the Pisces. Also inspired by the major arcana: The Star.

---

The Zebra Shark Time! 🦈✨

Tiago to Aria - “Seriously, you turn any crazy dream into a fun idea that seems within reach!”

⭐ Aria, with her eccentric way, always rekindles the faith of her friends' hopes. ✨

This moment when the penny drops that trying to implement bathroom bans is an impossibility for the former Tory Chief Secretary Simon Clarke is delicious.

no joke though this is what art is all about..... transcending the boundaries of specific human experience to unite in the embrace of universal human emotion
