Evening, Womble. I am reading "A Quest for Orion", which I first read decades ago and had completely forgotten the title of until about three weeks ago when I saw a copy on ebay. It's a YA novel set in a post invasion UK and is much stranger than I remember.
Photo of the cover of A Quest for Orion by Rosemary Harris, which shows doorway shaped artwork of a ruined city through the fallen walls of a house, with a glowing Excalibur esque sword in the foreground and what seems to be an arrowhead shaped craft in the dark sky above, under Orion, the winter constellation. The whole image is surrounded by barbed wire.

Sad to report that my amazing cat (Mister) Marlowe has died at the grand age of 21. She shouted at the world, a lot.

See a couple, post a couple.
Photograph of two Funko Pop Plague Doctor figures, standing side by side. The figures may be something to do with Assassins' Creed? Also the photograph is square and has some sort of Instagram contrast filter on it.

Afternoon Womble, just finished Paul McAuley's Loss Protocol which I apparently enjoyed more than you :) Now onto Helen of Wyndhorn by Tom King & Bilquis Evely, who did the excellent Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.
Photo of the cover of Loss Protocol by Paul McAuley - cover is pale blue with white writing at the top for the title, the letters have a falling sand or dust effect at the lower edge, and there is solid black writing at the bottom for author name, between the two is large picture of a sepia toned moth of some kind that seems to be trailing dust from the edge of its wings Photo of the cover of the Helen of Wyndhorn graphic novel. Title in ornate yellow letters at the top, names of the creative team at the bottom: Tom King, Bilquis Evely, Matheus Lopes, Clayton Cowles. The cover art image is the main character, Helen, red haired, sitting on a raised piece of grassy ground, holding her knees, beside a leather travel bag. She's wearing 1930s style clothing; shoes with spats, a brown check skirt, yellow short sleeved blouse. Roots in stylised animal forms are emerging from the earth around her but she's staring directly at the observer. In the background, a large country mansion, and beyond that the impression of a vast sword hilt and in the clouds the face of an older gentleman with flowing pale hair peering down.

Afternoon Womble. Just started reading Pagans by James Alistair Henry, which is a murder thriller thing set in an alternate 2023 where England avoided the Norman invasion of 1066 and is made of up an uneasy alliance of Saxon, Celt etc tribes. Setting not quite gelling yet but the writing is good.
Pagans by James Alistair Henry, Waterstones edition hardcover with red Celtic style knotwork columns on a red background, the red title outlined in black, and two red figures in a black tear/blood drop in the centre of the coverMap from the front pages of Pagans, showing the Kingdom of England broken into various tribal areas e.g. Greater Mercia, South Western Tribal lands etc. Scotland and Ireland are similarly labelled with indications of the altered background of this setting.

In fact I just found the image I immediately thought of (whilst i was ignoring the whole 'actual lightning bolt' aspect of the card)

Morning Womble! Today I will be mostly reading: Blake's 7 Production Diary Series A.... and then I will get back to reading Alan Moore's The Great When, a novel about a mysterious Other London.
