tbh I'm sometimes reluctant to say I'm in ML bcs a lot of people assume it's all genAI when it's not. the field is a lot broader than generative models but I don't feel like fighting that misconception every time

for the record it's a remote position at a company *in a neighboring country* (a certain white people country in APAC lol) but I took my chance because I was desperate enough (I only vaguely know quant is "data science but make it specifically finance")

I was laid off a while ago and haven't had much luck finding a new remote job (which I /need/ for personal reasons). I've been taking art commissions to get by but it's been physically taxing on me, so rn I'm exploring other options even if they seem a bit out there(?)

considering becoming a full time artist bcs I have no luck scoring a remote data scientist/machine learning job (I have 5 on-going interviews but all of them require me to come to the office)

my severance package would last me up until July 2026 if I weren't ill, however I no longer have my health insurance (which I've been relying on) since it was paid by my previous employer. I would have to make at least an additional 800 USD/month
