We're discussing how some people feel quite entitled to your time & @plutodetective.bsky.social goes, "If you show up at my door at 8pm I assume someone needs the hospital or is about to die, and if not, then YOU are about to die. 😤" Truth tbh 😂

I just finished The Caretaker by Marcus Kliewer! That sure was a harmless and normal book about house-sitting. I'm gonna find a nice wall to stare at now. :D (It was really good! Not as phenomenal as We Used To Live Here, but that's a HIGH bar to clear so I'm still mostly satisfied.)

I tried on my Moby sweater WIP and the sleeve finally seems to fit okay!!! There is still some odd bulk at the underarm, but I think that's because I went OVER-oversize with the sizing on purpose. 🙈 For now I will carry on with this sleeve & trust the process! #knitting #petiteknit #mobysweater

Just finished re-watching RWRB! 🥹 FEEEEELS. I am still craving Henry-and-Philip fic. I truly don't feel equipped to do them justice. But I neeeeeed it. 😭 I started one (1) tiny thing for Pride & it's still unfinished. It's literally just one scene. Why is writing hard?

I remembered (!!) that it's #wipwednesday! Here's some #Hollanov, the start of my planned passenger princess Ilya fic. The whole thing is getting angstier than I anticipated, oops.

"Here," Shane said, and plucked the keys out of Ilya's mostly limp grip. "I'll drive."

It was only 11pm, but Ilya was tired. It was the kind of exhaustion that went in deep and found hollow places to fill. He'd known he would be tired. Meetings with potential sponsors were always stressful, even when they ended with smiling handshakes and an agreement. But tonight...

The woman was some heiress in her early fifties, whose rich estranged father had left her a sizeable bundle of wealth. Jewels glittered at her throat and on her fingers. The dark green dress probably cost more even than their table's sizeable bill, which she'd insisted on paying.

Her husband was a few years younger. They'd met at a resort, he'd said, almost apologetic. He was more plainly dressed. He didn't even wear a watch.

The entrée had seen them through the opening pleasantries. The woman told them how she'd heard of the Irina Foundation; why she thought it was a worthy cause to donate to; how much money she was thinking about...

And then she'd started asking questions. Like Ilya and his fucked-up family were some juicy fruit she was peeling, and she was determined to get off every last scrap of indigestible skin and chop up the rest into bite-sized pieces.

Derry ✨ @derryday.bsky.social · 03/09/2026

I keep missing WIP Wednesday 😭. But here is some #Hollanov that will be part of a long longgg fic, if I ever finish it. Write the kidnapped!Ilya fic you want to see in the world etc

Ilya dug his thumbs in deep on either side of Shane's spine, then pulsed them outwards in little circles, just grazing the edges of his shoulder blades. Tendons and sinews wobbled under the pressure, slipping this way and that. He slowed, sought out the thickest parts and dug in, pressing so slowly that the muscle had no choice but to relax.

Shane grunted, his breath hitching, then he exhaled a long sigh. He was pliant and loose-limbed, half-sprawled on the counter with his hands folded under his cheek.

Ilya let up. Rubbed gently at the hot, sore spots he'd just dug into, and admired the reddening of Shane's skin. "Better?"

"Mmmh," Shane hummed. He didn't open his eyes. His face was so slack that his words came out slurred. "Fuck hockey. You should do this full-time."

Ilya chuckled. "And be your househusband?"

While I'm posting unpopular opinions, I don't get the Hayden hate. I agree he's been an asshole in some ways. He needs to get over himself and be a good friend. But... straight-up hate and vitriol? Really? 🙄 Don't make me tap the "characters are allowed to be imperfect and have room to grow" sign.

120

Derry ✨ @derryday.bsky.social · 27/08/2026

Unpopular opinion maybe, but I am begging knitting creators to stop making convoluted videos/"rants"/analyses about Ranunculus. It's a popular pattern. You are in possession of free will, so you can knit it or not. Some people like it, others don't, just like with ALL THINGS IN THE WORLD. The end. 🙄

Summary:

"You know, I met your father once."
Okay, in hindsight, Shane could have phrased that better, or led with something gentler. Ilya went still, then jerked away from him
Shane didn't think he'd ever quite seen this look in his eyes. Hunted, hurt, almost angry.
"What?"

Or: What if Shane had met Grigori Rozanov at the draft in L.A.?
