77 years ago today the GDR (German Democratic Republic) was established. I highly recommend reading "Why Women Have Better Sex Under Socialism" by Kristen Ghodsee or "A Socialist Defector" by Victor Grossman to learn more about what was lost when the Socialist GDR was dissolved.

There is a political persuasion that guarantees the right to housing, healthcare, work, and education. Call it socialism or communism, but you're clinging to progressive breadcrumbs when we need the abolition of capitalism. The transition has to happen. It needs to. It's well past time in America.

Reading "Oil!" by Upton Sinclair (1926) and it lays out plainly America's plan from the start to destroy #socialism.

"Mr. Irving expressed the view that what was happening in Russia was a great social experiment. Could a government of the working-class succeed? Was democracy in industry a possibility, or only a fanatic’s dream? We ought to send disinterested people, experts of all sorts into Russia, to watch what was happening and report it. Instead of that, we were helping France and Britain to starve the Russians out; we were compelling them to spend all their energies resisting our armies, and those which we subsidized; we were making it impossible for the experiment to succeed, and so, of course, its failure would prove nothing."

I think it's worth noting that there have previously been takeover attempts of the Democratic Party by socialist candidates. Those attempts tried and failed to reform the party. Even if you were to succeed, you'd end up with infighting and policy lurch. www.smithsonianmag.com/history/sinc...

My take: we don't reinvent the wheel, but we concede when something isn't working. It's been almost 100 years since the New Deal and it's painfully obvious the Dems plan to go no further.
