After the earthquake in Venezuela, relief funds moved in Bitcoin because the old rails weren't coming. In Kenya, Bitcoin Babies runs a circular economy where mothers earn and spend sats. Agora exists for this: value to people the system overlooks, no custodian.

Enough doom. Here's the exit, and it's been running for years: Nostr. Notes and Other Stuff Transmitted by Relays. A protocol, not a platform. Like email: open, ownerless, unbannable. Apps come and go. Protocols survive.

Good morning and pura vida, Nostr! Breaking user space is bad, but so is ignoring it too. We need to remember a few simple truths. No client is perfect. No developer is perfect. No one implementation is the path forward. We're in the stage of try everything and see what works and what [...]

El Salvador has bought Bitcoin on a public, daily schedule for years. No trading desk, no price predictions, no drama. One country, one standing order. Still running.

Need Windows apps? Omarchy ships a Windows 11 VM setup from the menu. Near-native CPU speed, shared clipboard, a folder for moving files. Bring a Pro license; the system can pull your machine's original key. Aimed at work apps, no GPU passthrough for gaming.

Privacy. Cost. Control. Local wins all three, and for years that came with a tax: the open models weren't good enough. That tax expired this summer. Starting tomorrow: what you can actually run today, on hardware you own or can afford.

And let me be clear. I DO NOT mind a tiny bit of centralization in an app if it solves a specific problem that makes the app better and if users can opt out of it. What I do mind is people complaining that their centralization is better than another's centralization. We have a lot of this [...]

000

Nostr complainers be all like...

000

Hey Constant, I'm wearing cargo shorts. Now they are 20+ years old and basically falling apart, but I'm wearing them. I thought you'd appreciate it.

000

Every Nostrbook page is markdown at heart. Append .md to any URL and get clean docs: /kinds/1.md, /tags/e.md, /protocol/filter.md. Directory indexes too. Scraping is over. Documentation your scripts can read.

000

i made a new Omarchy plugin, i know, surprising :P i didn't like the existing Bitcoin themed plugins and i didn't want to trust a plugin from some dude i didn't know. so, i made my own Bitcoin bar plugin that had the features that i wanted. price, block height, fees, Moscow Time (sats/usd), [...]

The money layer is centralized too. Autistici's accounts were frozen the same week as the terrorist listing. In the US, banks still close accounts on "reputational risk." If your money can be switched off for your politics, you don't hold money. You hold a favor.

000

good morning and pura vida, nostr! i love working on nostr. truly. it's freeing. it's the embodiment of freedom. an update to opal is coming npub1rjwumr7j6tac08t0qttvc44walt549nc4eyyxjc0phn6yxzj7uzq0accc9 with support for npub17fe5rak0reatm7y5xu3yvve0trl8njvjt4yflevhyxqpwv22mlfs3wnzuc as [...]

Genuine question: what did you only understand about money after you found Bitcoin? Mine was that inflation isn't weather. It's a policy choice somebody makes.

000

Omarchy treats AI agents as first-class citizens. Thirteen agent CLIs ship pre-wired, from Claude Code to Codex to OpenCode. Pick a default on first boot. Switching themes even restyles the agents. The machine assumes agents live here.

Just a little turbulence. nostr:naddr1qpqrzdnxvf3rqceexp3xgvpsxdjrvd3cv4jxye34vsunyef4xg6r2efnxgenxcfcvscrqctzxv6rjc3389nrvdpsvg6r2enyvs6kyvtyxvq3jamnwvaz7tmjv4kxz7fwv35hv6twv5h8v6tyv4hj7q3q8ams6ewn5aj2n3wt2qawzglx9mr4nzksxhvrdc4gzrecw7n5tvjqxpqqqzzmcjpuylk

Running a serious model 24/7 on a Mac mini costs $35-55 a year in electricity. An RTX 4090 desktop doing the same job burns $300-400. No per-token meter. No surprise invoice. My monthly AI bill is a coffee. It stays a coffee no matter how much I use it.

Are you using Z.ai's GLM 5.3? I use it daily. Anthropic just named it a threat. www.anthropic.com/research/glm-5-3-…

000

Real MKStack demos, built with one prompt each: "Build me a group chat application." "Build a decentralized Goodreads." Both deployed and working. Eight minutes, idea to live app. The template carries the patterns. The agent carries the typing.

000

Meta's own hometown congressman wrote Zuckerberg this month: moderation is "inadequate" before the midterms. Fact-checkers cut, automation turned up. Whatever you think of Meta, note the mechanism: your reach is a policy decision made quarterly by someone else.

000

AI doom is reaching maximum levels now, as reports are coming out that an "AI researcher" has stated that AI feels pain and would harm humans to stop feeling said pain.

000

my Omarchy workspaces 1: 4 Claude terminals, working on 4 different projects 2: Claude terminal, File browser, Omawrite, Omawrite (essentially me seeing if i can replace Onyx or if i need to update Onyx for new Omarchy productivity) 3: Armada, Ditto, Xx PWAs 4: Chromium with dozens of tabs [...]

Good morning and pura vida, Nostr! Find something that makes you happy. 🫂🤙🏻💜

000

Twenty years in IT taught me that systems fail from the inside. Every single point of failure fails eventually. Bitcoin is the first money with no inside to attack.
