In the '80s, Einstein's face was everywhere: coffee mugs, posters, t-shirts, keychains, stickers, etc. Then around 2015 it was Tesla. Tesla's face all over the place. I got so sick of seeing it.

The "scroll bar thumb" (I looked up the name) in Google Docs is the faintest, most subtle of grays, no doubt for the best reasons. I am sure Beau Brummel would approve, but I can barely see it. Is there a setting to make it visible?

Huh. Lived first half of my life in Fort Worth, the second half in and around San Francisco. I think of myself as a Texan first, and a westerner in general. East of the Mississippi--the South, the east coast, New England--has always felt like another country to me.

Two staff members and I just wasted ten minutes trying to adjust the brightness on the monitor at our service desk. "Methods 1, 2, and 3" offered by Google don't match reality. Seem to recall there used to be a knob. You simply turned it. What kind of mind came up with this state of affairs?

Messing around with ChatGPT. Asked it to create a book cover for Krolok in the style of those yellow Gollancz titles. It just goes to show you can resort to AI for a tasteful book cover without it being an utter abomination.

Just got around to uploading to Soundcloud an album my band put out in 1994. I played guitar on it. It is surprising to me how much I was unconsciously channeling Christian Death and Bauhaus. soundcloud.com/themarbleindex

I asked the guy at the Toyota service counter once, "Can I rip out the screen and put in a proper CD player?" He stopped typing, looked up, got a huge grin on his face and said, "You absolutely can." He knew exactly why I was asking.
