Oh good morning, Everything I Regret Doing. what an odd hour to visit come in come in I didn’t want to sleep anyway

Derecho @derechodragon.bsky.social · 03/10/2026

I’ve noticed that no one reaches out to me for a meetup of any sort. When I reach out, the people I consider friends are usually amenable and I feel a good time is had. But I have to do the asking.

It’s a perfect autumn weather weekend and literally the only thing I want to do is be curled up in bed.

More than one person has said “you’re taking this pretty well”, regarding my re-emergent failures. Oh no no no, my man, I most certainly am not taking this pretty well. I am far, far past simple verbal venting and if I give the intrusive thoughts any room to grow I’ll end up in jail or a morgue.

And there’s a big one: “thanks for applying” for the great gig I interviewed for last week. 3 positions, 12 applicants, and somehow I still didn’t make the cut. After several minutes of screaming into pillows, I’m laying here stunned

I’ve been feeling more nostalgic lately, especially brought on by music. I think it’s a reflection of dissatisfaction with current life. Not saying that listening to 80s music is a sure symptom; it’s the memories and emotions it brings up.

Drove 11-hour round trip for job interview yesterday. 15 people at intro session, 3 of which indicated experience in industry. Interview was nothing but boilerplate questions, no actual discussion about my experience and knowledge. HR person admitted she hadn’t read my resume, ops guy seemed same.

As I understand it some people successfully use their OCs as representation for aspects of their personality, which helps them deal directly with those aspects. I have tried to assign my temper and my irritability to Derecho but he’s not having it; what does he have to be grumpy about, he’s a dragon

Laying in bed with a migraine, thinking about how much I’d like to burn down the houses of a couple of old bosses of mine. If I knew I could get away with it.

After trying a couple of other antidepressants I have been prescribed a mood stabilizer. And so far it has been effective. Stable in that I’m constantly lethargic, irritable, and an overall downer, rather than just part of the time.

On top of everything else I overextended myself financially until some checks hit tomorrow or Tuesday. So I’m spending the entire weekend in-house playing Run 8 and listening to McElroy Brothers bits to try to relax.

I have mixed feelings about this. I like a good full-car piece as much as anyone, but the tagging that peppers everything has worn thin on me. And to me, locomotives and passenger cars are off-limits.

Left local radio on for a short drive and they read a feel-good story about a lost special-needs person, then went well out of their way to mention how Fl0ck cameras assisted the search and while privacy violations are bad m’kay Fl0ck cameras are not all bad and Fl0ck saved a life here. Disgusting

Currently celebrating the Seventh Day of Fucksmas as I get fucked over for the seventh day in a row. Railroading as a hobby can be just as draining as doing it professionally. Except it directly costs me so much money.

You mean like standard freight cars? The equipment that simply does not fit in the tunnels? And would require a mid-city transload terminal for Final Mile? If the Roadrailer revolution hadn’t been quashed that might be even a remote possibility. We, as a nation, made our bed and have to lay in it.

To Renn Faire or Not To Renn Faire, that is the question. Forecast high of 75F which is a little on the high side for full kit but also includes a breezy northwest wind which should be low-humidity.

FYI he’s brandishing a spike maul, also known in some circles as a “mundy”. I used to have one that had been kept at a drawbridge for emergency use only (in case part of the mechanism got stuck and needed some percussive persuasion), and it was painted solid red to keep it on location.
