Retired and living in France, after 40 years in software across UK and 5 other countries, I became an estate agent in France from 2016-23. QPR fan through thin and thinner.

I'd say Truss was the worst and most incompetent. Was Johnson corrupt or a self promoter?

That could be any of Cameron, May, Johnson, Truss, Sunak, Starmer or Burnham.

Outside of the hard-core Tory faithful, who does Kemi appeal to? Those who drifted rightwards to Reform?

Also a beneficiary of FOM. So, I agree. But the ignorant also get to vote.

Try explaining the benefits of Schengen and € to most UK voters and watch for the puzzlement.

IMHO hard to disagree. But would the UK electorate agree. Many associate FOM with immigration they abhor. Also heard, very few Brits take advantage of FOM.

1 problem is that UK voters are, to an extent, anti immigration. And conflate FOM with immigration.

Pope Innocent III,who died in 1216, spoke of a certain kind of older man, who is "easily provoked", "will believe anything and question nothing", is "stingy and greedy" and "praises the good old days and hates the present." Reform UK's voter base has been knocking around for a very long time.

The role of the RNLI is to rescue those in distress at sea. Whatever their status. An inflatable, overloaded dinghy crossing the Channel is likely to be in distress at some point.

UK exports of goods to the EU have fallen by £27 billion since Brexit. Exports remain roughly 18% below pre-2019 levels. And around one in seven UK businesses have stopped trading with the EU altogether

The impact of Brexit on trade uncertainty
The UK’s trade ambitions are clear: open new markets, reduce border friction, and make it genuinely easier for small businesses to compete globally. The government’s 2025 Trade Strategy frames this as...

An Afghan boy, 14, was dropped off by a lorry in a Midlands town. A lady, who spoke Farsi, looked after him for a night before foster care could be arranged. 2 years later he passed 11 GCSEs with top grades. His achievement was celebrated.

I used to be a European tour driver but the work has really dried up. It's so hard for bands to tour anymore, nobody can afford it, and the paperwork is insane. Every single thing has to go on the carnet - every sharpie, roll of gaffa, plectrum... Fuck Brexit.
