Please be prepared this coming week to protect your neighbors. ❤️🫂❤️💔 Make sure they know you care. I'm making a big batch of cookies for my street. These are people who are here "legally", until Feb. 3rd when the rug will be pulled out from under them without an appeal wait ruling. #ICEOUT

Today Shadow has been bringing Jackie fluffy grasses for incubation, and a big fish! Jackie also went and got some grasses! Here she is tucking it in all around her to keep out drafts from her precious newly laid babies. 💚 1/2 She may lay a 3rd egg in a couple of days. #fobbv #BigBearEagles

Hollowed trees and logs at Blue Springs State Park, Florida. 💚😊

Long hollow running vertically up a standing tree.

Big gaping hollow at the top of a very tall stump.

Quintessential opening to a hollow log. I wonder who may be in there.

We went to Blue Springs State Park last week! It's a quiet boardwalk through the woods along the spring, so peaceful. In the winter kayaks and swimmers aren't allowed in since the manatees are there keeping warm. 1 and 2: mama and baby. 3. The calm stream.

Mama and baby manatees in turquoise water, palm tree in the foreground and other manatees behind them.

The spring in the shade on a cloudy day, dark and still.

Misty morning the other day, with my neighbor's light-up deer under her trees. 🤍

Quiet residential street in mist, with a soft golden street lamp and a few little Christmas deer under broad trees.

💙Curious wanting to be part of the fun, but his brain doesn't implode with excitement over boxes like Bunty's does.💙💖 I was saving these boxes to sort stuff into before donating or selling, but husband brought them down to recycle and Bunty was like YAY PRESENTS! 😄

A winter reverie.

THE STINGING FLY

A Patch of Blue

Jerry Goldsmith's title theme, its plaintive
minor key arrangement, somehow welcoming
the snow that falls outside our kitchen window.
The rote activity of washing takes me
miles away, and in that sweetest dream
the music like a hand-embroidered
counterpane—each note within the melody
a cipher to be read and kept concealed.
That we communicate at all is half
mistake. I turn the thick LP, listen
to the piano, all the silences it leaves—
the hiss and crackle whispering of things
so old they beggar history: a sound
like fire in fields of wheat, the wind at sea.

We're in a time of radicalization or purity from all sides. I will never be pure enough for this, because i love people and have to believe in their ultimate heart. It's why the ghosts visited Scrooge. It's how Grinch's heart grew 3 sizes. Please don't weaponize empathy against people who care. ✌️

Just had mash potatoes to use up the last potatoes, before starting an elimination diet for nightshade vegetables tomorrow. As much as I love and live off potatoes, it will be worth not eating them if it turns out they and other nightshades are making me sicker!

Eating porridge with my bear claw oven mitt. It's just right. 💚🐻💚

Wooden table with my arm in oven mitt that's like a bear paw, holding a bowl of porridge.

My bowl of porridge on the oven mitt with the claws just peeking out on one side. The bowl is white and rimmed with a light blue checkerboard pattern interspersed with pink flowers shaped like a heart. There's a white pekin duck unseen under the oatmeal.

This is completely fine - it's a huge expectation for people to bring homemade food. But having said that, shoofly pie needs to be homemade. Those store bought shoofly pies are like you dug up dirt and covered it with molasses.
