From the other side, it’s good that they don’t know the masking nets should be on the outside, not the inside.

Trying out the latest Mistral tools (released 15 minutes ago)… Can we invite Mistral to the W so I can share my feedback directly? If they’re using Chinese models for coding, maybe they should put a little more effort into QA for the UI too - it feels like it barely got tested 😅

They say there's another one hit yesterday. But yeah, instead of centralization they will get back to decentralization, and given their allies we should expect the extra bot traffic coming from US datacenters probably...

Okay, we have different visions on how it ends, but let's see later how it goes and who wins 😅

Those attacks seem to come from a competitor that sees the W - even in beta - as an existential threat 🤷‍♂️ Still, it’s great to see that #WSocial doesn’t sink to the level of the yellow-press tactics we have to deal with from the outside.

A report from Cloudflare on Yandex outage "...This, in combination with the gambling customer analysis, shows that malicious traffic that was sending requests through Yandex.Cloud simply shifted its “services” to other providers after the service disruption." blog.cloudflare.com/yandex-outage

Yandex outage: data shows that instead of going dark, malicious bots went on the move
When strikes hit Yandex data centers, many assumed Russian bot operations went dark. Cloudflare data reveals that while search crawling stopped, malicious bots simply migrated to other networks.

If nobody is making money, owning the infrastructure doesn't help. It just becomes a huge bill they can't afford to pay once the bubble bursts.

Those are not security experts. They call themselves so, but at most mid level developers armed with cheap AI, based on the source code I have seen (yes, they were dumb enough to share their source code with some chnagebhistory and comments).

Yeah, you can try that. I have a Beelink linux (former windows Pro) box for LLM models, and using it either as a desktop or remotely on local network. 64gb ram, 12gb vram and 2TB SSD... Testing dozens of small models quite comfortably.

But have you tried WSL2 and Ubuntu subsystem for windows? You could run docker there and use the model runner www.docker.com/products/mod... just throwing ideas

So if Blacksky had Gaza bot issues (from what I read earlier), and that was mitigated at 1400 takedowns, then how one gets to the 5400 takedowns? Even bigger bot problem? Burner accounts?

Just curious, how do you read the "taken down" column. Is that people leaving en masse, PDS had bot problems, etc?

The concept isn't new; researchers have long noted that echo chambers are self-built (see C. Thi Nguyen, Echo Chambers and Epistemic Bubbles). What I'm coining is a term for a pattern I keep seeing: groups spending more energy attacking a platform than improving their own.

Self-Inflicted Echo Chambers: When Your Group Becomes Its Own Worst Enemy | Developer Notes
You've probably seen it before. A team, a community, or a fanbase spends its days attacking its competitors nonstop. The same grievances come up again and again. The discussions go in circles. Nothing...

#WSocialFacts #eIDAS and #Widentity is a similar process, both allow you to decided what Information you are willing to share with the sites or services. I have used both, luckily got on the pilot for Ireland's 'EU Digital Wallet'!

That is a good candidate for the W faq page I think. Or #WSocial needs some separate page for the W Identity and all the questions related. From what I know, and we've seen so far is one can't remove or move the app from one device to another - it needs the whole verification from the scratch.

Yeah, I think the whole server was unavailable for a short period. Usually this happens when they roll out a new version. So I usually hunt new features after that 😅

The hypocrisy is loud, but the implementation is quiet. That's the telling part.
120
Denys @denys.dev · 15/10/2026
Exactly. The worst part isn't even the policy change - it's that they spent months belittling anyone who suggested it was necessary, only to do it themselves the moment it suited them.

What's fascinating is watching the loudest anti-ID-verification voices quietly roll out exactly the age checks they campaigned against.

I do remember seeing Win 3.11 and a mouse for the first time 😂 but I have switched from dos to 95 directly. 3.11 was only worth for the minesweeper and solitaire games imho.

Yep, I suggested they pay Elena for the journalist work, as she was complaining for not getting any money, while leaving her child with her parents to spend Sunday time harassing and insulting us online....
