Actually today's was good :)

Honestly, I feel so bedraggled and uninspired for the DnD sessions at work. And the problem isn't the pregens for the play network or anything, I just am not bringing my A game. Trying to rediscover my spark I guess.

It's trying to find a new model. Working on improving accuracy. Or, barring that, make assessments about the status of American politics by fucking vibes and horoscopes I guess.

DeMaiste @demaiste.bsky.social · 09/10/2026

It's not necessarily accurate because the notion of the task it is trying to undertake is incredibly tough. You think trying to get your indecisive partner to make a decision on dinner is tough? Imagine doing it for at least 50 million people. The solution isn't "oh corrupt pollsters".

DeMaiste @demaiste.bsky.social · 09/10/2026

This is going to be a post about politics. Sorry. But truly, the notion of "Oh well Truman had notoriously low popularity and so when he won the election it proves that polling numbers don't mean anything" is nothing. It's truly nothing. Polling is a tool used to try and approximate sentiment.

well, while i fight with printers on this, i'd like to show you guys my ffxiv OC zine i've been working on: eclipse, featuring both darjeeling and peony and how they interact with the world around them. 40+ pgs of illustrations, sketches, and written lore.

the covers of my ffxiv oc zine, featuring peony with the subtitle "lunar" and darjeeling with the subtitle "solar"

peony is drawn next to a bird feather and darjeeling is drawn next to a fish on a hook.

Every once in a while I am reminded that unironically my dream cosplay was Toma, the finder from D. Gray Man, and that I live in a world where no one would know what the fuck I was doing

Remembering that one time I went to the Ren Faire out here and was so excited I literally only took a picture of the parking lot because I was so overwhelmed (And also the tilt but I was sitting in the stands cheering for France so You Get It)

DeMaiste @demaiste.bsky.social · 05/10/2026

I have gotten to the point where the idea of making instant Ramen feels like too much work

Grab Ekko's leash. Get Ekko outside, tie him to a post or railing or something nearby. Grab a cat carrier or whatever means you have of taking Ludwig to the vet. Do what you can. You can do this.

Emet Selch isn't your dad. He isn't your grandpa. He's a cosmologically powerful guy who had to go to the IDEAS DMV to talk to the IDEAS PERMITTING GUY about whether or not his IDEA was GOOD FOR THE PLANET

"who's going to be the bad guy global warming" Alright listen here you glib fuck. If you look at global climate change and think that isn't a compelling villain I've got bad news about all the previous XIV antagonists

My job relies on a good monitor and this one I've had for 6 years has finally kicked the bucket. It refuses to load anymore. I just paid a $300+ vet visit for my cat and have no extra savings atm. If anyone is able to help (or share!) I would deeply appreciate it. ko-fi.com/ruwyn_a/goal...

I loaded up Dragon's Dogma 2 and immediately stabbed a guard so the eldritch consequences are here already

Who am I to say no to a trend? High school. Free demo disc. The original Geneforge by Spiderweb Software. Couldn't afford to buy it then, but you bet your ass I've bought every game in the series and still haven't played any of them. Wouldn't recommend it to everyone but it's "mine".

By jove I'm going to write today or suffer unfathomable dark eldritch consequences

Oh, from Russia. I didn't know recasts were resin so it was already a moot point, but we are going back into the "is it meet for the people to suffer for the crimes of their government" with that one, which in and of itself is tied into the "IP theft" conversation

100

DeMaiste @demaiste.bsky.social · 19/09/2026

*sighs* And that's the reason why I haven't bought the insanely cheap recasts of Warhammer miniatures from the UK...

There is a desire to sort of nihilistically go "is voting with your dollar substantive when we know that wealthy (via the Activision Blizzard acquisition) just bullshit the amount of money they are worth and banks give it to them" but then again we're living in the Pokémon bubble so here we are

100

DeMaiste @demaiste.bsky.social · 19/09/2026

No, but hilariously a massive miscommunication in my childhood led to me thinking Dungeons and Dragons and WoW were the same, hence my obsession with Paladins. There is a lot of like, death of the author, voting with your money, no ethical consumption under Capitalism and others going on right now

In two hundred years after I finish paying off the switch 2 and eternal college loans 🚬

000

DeMaiste @demaiste.bsky.social · 17/09/2026

Truly there is nothing like catastrophizing like "oh surely the switch 2 is $2,000" so that way when I look at the $500 price tag I go "oh thank goodness"

150

DeMaiste @demaiste.bsky.social · 17/09/2026

Bestie I am going into debt for the switch 2 you think I won't go more I debt for animal crossing so I can be even more in debt

020

DeMaiste @demaiste.bsky.social · 17/09/2026

I did type buy, and it is funny that auto correct did say "huh" because it looks like I'm suggesting people fuck their Switch 2s

140

DeMaiste @demaiste.bsky.social · 17/09/2026

I do remember someone saying "people aren't going to huh the Switch 2 for Fire Emblem" Bestie you best call me an android because I am beep bopping my way to that handheld

If you do not get the "But Doctor, I am Pagliacci the Clown!" reference, it is about the absurdity of sometimes being the solution for others to a problem that you yourself are suffering. It's about not being recognized despite being famous, because your persona outshines you as a person.

030

DeMaiste @demaiste.bsky.social · 16/09/2026

The Morpeko looks a lot more doable, I'll unironically keep my eyes peeled for one

It is my sincere hope that no one threatens violence but also I have no means by which to say it won't happen

DeMaiste @demaiste.bsky.social · 16/09/2026

Honestly the longer I work at a game store the more I realize the prices are absolutely not an indication of how cool the card is because what do you mean Jirachi is less than Pikachu

100

DeMaiste @demaiste.bsky.social · 16/09/2026

A mere $210 card? For you I'll snag two (I won't but they tell me it's the thought that counts)

100

DeMaiste @demaiste.bsky.social · 16/09/2026

Honestly as far as a basic EX card goes he's kind of mid. The any number of basic pokemon to bench for one energy of any kind is nice, but there are cheaper ways to do it that don't give your enemy three prize cards.

020

DeMaiste @demaiste.bsky.social · 16/09/2026

Thank you for that I will save you a pikachu

010

DeMaiste @demaiste.bsky.social · 16/09/2026

I want to be nice and say yes but I need you to understand naid people are PRESELLING A CARD THEY DO NOT HAVE YET FOR $300
