Oh yeah I finally went to Japan it was awesome

Me in front of Sunplaza Hall in Sendai, Miyagi holding up a light-up uchiwa fan from Ayumi Hamasaki's current tour. People are all around, the Ayu concert has just ended.

A view of the Godzilla head on top of the Toho Cinema and Hotel Gracery building at the end of Godzilla Street in Shinjuku, Tokyo.

Ikebukuro PARCO mall above Ikebukuro Station, seen while crossing the street walking towards it in the evening.

Me standing among a display of countless vertically arranged LED lights in the TeamLab PLANETS art installation museum.

Of course women don't like the Cybertruck. Women only want one thing, and it's a blue Nissan SilEighty.

Mako and Saiyuki's Nissan Silvia from the anime Initial D.

A view of the entrance stage and screen area at Globe Life Field, where AEW's All In pay-per-view event will be happening later. The title of the pre-show, "All In Zero Hour", is on display. The stage is viewed at a diagonal angle to the right side of the frame. There are lots of people in seats but the event is still far from full.

Now these are run times I like to see. On principle I have no issue with pop songs that are just 2 and a half long choruses, but it wears thin. I WANT TO FEEL THINGS. I want epics. I want STORIES. Anything under 3 and a half minutes is an interlude. Happy Sleep Token day!!

A screenshot of the running times for songs on an album, as shown in Spotify. The run times are 7 minutes 46 seconds, 6 minutes 26 seconds, 3 minutes 34 seconds, 4 minutes 11 seconds, 4 minutes 50 seconds, 4 minutes 28 seconds, 6 minutes 5 seconds, 4 minutes 24 seconds, 6 minutes 23 seconds, and 8 minutes 23 seconds.

The one that comes to mind for me is Do As Infinity's "ALIVE", released 19 years after their debut. Punchy, powerful, politically-charged tracks with production from Hiroyuki Sawano. A bold experiment that resulted in an album with no skips.

The album cover of Do As Infinity's "Alive" album, which depicts a serene but anticipatory view of a beach, small breaking ocean waves, and the horizon, the sun just starting to rise. It's blue & gray, and somewhat gloomy, but tranquil with the orange from the sunlight symbolizing the arrival of some hope. The band and album name are near the bottom of the image, printed in white so they're readable against the dark gray-blue of the sand and water.

Given everything, I have no idea if I'll be able to even go to Japan for this, but I knew I had to try. If I do get tickets, and my travel plans are still able to happen, this will be my 1st Ayu concert ever. In 25 years of being a fan. Wish me luck, y'all.

Auto-translated "application status confirmation" for my entry into the ticket lottery for the Ayumi Hamasaki Asia Tour 2025 show at Sendai Sun Plaza Hall in Miyagi Prefecture on October 18th. The status shown is "waiting for lottery".

If you're going to Epic Universe, I made a funny t-shirt with my husband @akileese.bsky.social about it and if you want one I have them on my Etsy store. The "Founder" by the pocket will only be there until the end of May but I'll keep selling them after that. deliriumzer0.etsy.com

Ayumi Hamasaki still killing it. I do wish she was popular enough to get anime convention cosplays still, but it's awesome that we get fun concert looks like this at all in 2025.

I don't have the vocabulary to describe this Ayumi Hamasaki concert outfit properly, but it's black and shiny and tight and draped in what looks like Hot Topic belts and includes black thigh-high boots and a cool sunglasses mask thing that looks like it's out of a sci-fi fantasy setting. She looks badass, I hope I captured it well enough here.

Age yourself with a toy from your childhood.

The bug-themed board game "Splat!", shown with a classic Milton Bradley box depicting colorful cartoon bugs stealing cookies and evading getting squashed. The game includes a board with a simple winding path with multicolored spaces, two dice, colorful cards with frightened-looking adorable cartoon bugs on them, a stylized bug-shaped mold, play-doh to put in the mold, and a cartoony hand-shaped tool for squshing the play-doh bugs.

while we're on the topic of faye wong i cannot stop comparing & contrasting these two photos lol

The cover of Faye Wong's "Help Yourself" EP, shot across the bay from the iconic Hong Kong skyline. Faye has a relaxed posture leaning back on a balcony railing, and is looking slightly down and away from the camera. The colors are muted but the whole thing has a blue overtone. Based on the sky, the photo was taken during a cloudy day. The famous Bank of China building is visible behind Faye's head.

The cover of Ayumi Hamasaki's "glitter" single, in its CD-only edition, shot across the bay from the iconic Hong Kong skyline. Ayu has a faux-relaxed posture standing in an infinity pool and artfully tilting her body into a subtle S shape, and she is looking ever-so-slightly above the camera lens. The colors are bright & showy, but the whole thing has a blue overtone. Based on the sky, the photo was taken during a clear night. The famous Bank of China building is visible behind Ayu's head.

ok but this is actually really interesting lol... there were a lot of these I would have just said "blue-green" or "aqua" or something, maybe "seafoam green" but if pressed to choose one or the other I went with "blue" cuz when I'm sorting out my colored pencils I put those colors in with the blues.

A chart showing a gradient from green to blue, with a vertical dotted line demonstrating where I consider "green" to end and "blue" to begin. The caption reads "Your boundary is at hue 172, greener than 63% of the population. For you, turquoise is blue."

Ayumi Hamasaki "Zutto..." commemorative Christmas ornament card, 2014

The front of the ornament card. Features a punch-out bauble shape with Ayu's photo on it and a lace doily pattern around the outside. The background color is a light wintery blue-green.

The back of the ornament card. The background is a gradient of dark sky & light bokeh near the top gradually changing to foggy white at the bottom, and there are snowflakes of various shapes and sizes scattered all over. Within the bauble shape is a handwritten message from Ayu saying "Happy Merry Christmas" in English, and then in Japanese "Let's have a lovely Christmas" and a doodle of a kissy face.

I was the only person doing the Fashion Frenzy event, and therefore, there was no one to vote for me, nor anyone for me to vote for. :sob: I did a sob emote when I realized I was the only person, and a random other player swooped in, voted for me, and left.

Show me a picture on your phone that has your energy that isn’t a selfie.

A y2k era figurine of Ayumi Hamasaki, a tiny (but slightly too big for the figurine) Santa hat plopped onto her head. Behind the figurine there is also a photo of Ayu doing a Christmastime live performance in a red & green plaid dress with white faux fur trim. There is other Ayu merchandise in the photo. The "energy" projected is that of a huge Ayumi Hamasaki fan nostalgic for the y2k era desperate to add Christmas cheer to her life.
