This is not a great way to inspire coalition building. I’m not commenting on anything regarding the facts or not, but it reads with a profound and alarming naïveté.

Mamdani shares on October 7th: This day is profoundly painful for so many New Yorkers. It marks three years since the horrific war crimes of October 7. On that day, Hamas killed more than 1,100 Israelis and abducted 251 others. We grieve alongside our many friends and neighbors who still carry that unthinkable loss.
The suffering did not begin nor end that day. It instead continued through the Israeli government's devastating, ongoing genocide in Gaza, in which it has killed more than 74,000 Palestinians-including more than 21,000 children. Even since the so-called ceasefire, more than 1,400 Palestinians have been killed. That suffering has intensified with every Israeli bomb dropped on ambulances waiting outside hospitals, every drone strike targeting a residential building or journalist, and every shipment of food aid turned away at a border crossing. Many New Yorkers are reckoning with this unbearable grief, and we mourn alongside them - all while knowing that our tax dollars fund these war crimes.
Three years later, we must refuse to accept a world in which occupation and apartheid continue, where war crimes are met with impunity, and our federal government continues its complicity with every arms shipment.
To honor the dead, we must fight for a world in which every person can live with freedom, safety, and dignity.

For fun, I gave #AI an MRI shot of my ear. I truthfully characterized it as from a head scan and asked what it was, if the engine needed additional info to make a dx (it didn’t), then to produce a differential diagnosis and show reasoning. It highly preferred a dx for a brain tumor. Narrator: 👎

Sadly, the onions I needed were gross and even somewhat liquified. Now that gardening season is coming to an end, from the looks of it we will be eating… carrots. This is a major grocery in rural America. Empty shelves coming to a store near you.

I spent a few years of my career at NOAA. It was an amazing place. The travesty of zero’ing all these labs will be devastating in immediate and longterm ways. Including on total communities. Just as birthright citizenship goes to the Supreme Court, this citizen is unable to get a replacement #socialsecurity card from SSA. A glitch or did DOGE reset these records?

Social Security Administration just told me I am not a US citizen!
Was born here, have my birth certificate, have my passport, but my Social Security card has gone missing somewhere in the depths of my parents home. After not having it for a couple years I finally decided to just get a replacement card.
Went to SSA site, followed all the prompts, filled in all the info, I sawcan see my benefits earnings.
But when I input my infor while applying for a replacement card. A message pops up that says: :Our records indicate you are not a U.S.
Citizen.
Normally i would challk this up to some glitch. But my parents are in fact from another country, one that the US is NOT friendly with (and vice versa) and they became US citizens in the 1980s, but based on the current state of things and where our family is from... I am starting to have a panic attack.

I read this, and do not know who the author is or the news source. It appears to be frank right wing propaganda, including calling out BlueSky as a left wing boiling pot of violent radicals (my summary), but mostly running neutral Canadian stories. This is a typically a nation state tactic. YMMV

Air traffic control audio captured someone on the plane reporting that an aircraft door was open and requesting a landing at the airport. An air traffic controller is heard clearing the plane to land, before saying, "Pull up!" Moments later, someone can be heard saying the aircraft was down.
The FAA said it will investigate.

As I’ve mentioned too many times, Musk takes 10% which is his magic number to keep the rest “in their toes.” This is his way, and I guess it remains so.

No words to describe how difficult today was at NSF. 10% of our employees gone. World-leading experts across science, technology, and education. Skilled workers dedicated to using their talents for public service. It is a devastating loss for those who remain and for the American people.
