Defunct Games @defunctgames.com · 07/09/2026In all of the reviews I've read, this is the first time I've ever seen a critic shout-out the person who wrote the instruction manual. 0103
Defunct Games @defunctgames.com · 04/09/2026Keys of Fury launched incomplete last November. It had about 30 minutes of content, with the promise of more coming February 2026. It was not a demo or early access, just a full-price game that was left unfinished before launch. Now, 7 months later, let's see if that content ever came. Uh oh ... 110
Defunct Games @defunctgames.com · 02/09/2026I love that R.C. Pro-Am II is out on Nintendo Switch Online, but I'm partial to Retro-Bit's recent physical release. (And not just because I get a shout out in the manual.) 061

Defunct Games @defunctgames.com · 27/07/2026When I sort by issue number, it lists the issues backwards -- 264, 263, 262, etc. In the case of EGM, I have to go to page 11 of 11 to get to the first issues. I do not see a way to get it back to just listing the issues in the correct order. 200
Defunct Games @defunctgames.com · 27/07/2026You're right, I could have been more specific. I'm talking about the magazine database. For example, when I go to EGM, it used to list the issues in order (1, 2, 3, etc.). Now it defaults to 1, 10, 100, 101, 102, and so on. The order is all wrong. 100
Defunct Games @defunctgames.com · 26/07/2026Lifted is a pretty good 2.5D platformer. It's basically Rayman + Tomb Raider with a heavy dose of Back to the Future (including a rather obnoxious impression of Michael J. Fox). I like the platforming, but the hero spends the whole game complaining about time traveling. That's annoying. 041
Defunct Games @defunctgames.com · 21/07/2026Perfect for anybody who finds themselves trapped in the Black Lodge. 140
Defunct Games @defunctgames.com · 10/07/2026I was mostly joking, but this is probably a good time to not overreact. Doom (and Id) will be fine. 100

Defunct Games @defunctgames.com · 06/07/2026Look, I get that Danny Masterson has committed far worse crimes in his life, but he should probably get an additional life sentence for the amount of times he uses "phat" or "phatter" to describe things. 131
Defunct Games @defunctgames.com · 03/07/2026More than 30 years after it debuted in arcades, Biomechanical Toy is FINALLY coming to home consoles later this month. The publisher likens it to Metal Slug, but it feels more like a genuinely good (non-science fiction) Cyber Lip mixed with Ghouls 'N Ghosts. I dig it. 041
Defunct Games @defunctgames.com · 30/06/2026I reviewed this game (City Game Studio) five years ago, and since then it has been the only game on my What's New section because it seemingly updated fifteen times a day. It makes this part of Steam completely useless. Even when I limit the notifications, they still get through. 020

Defunct Games @defunctgames.com · 20/06/2026For as messy and unfocused and meandering and frustrating as Twin Peaks: The Return is, it's also perfect. I wouldn't change a thing. 130

Defunct Games @defunctgames.com · 17/06/2026And when the site does feature the box sets, it mysteriously omits the box art. I noticed this issue across multiple three-packs. 000
Defunct Games @defunctgames.com · 17/06/2026The virtual Criterion Closet site is pretty cool, but it clearly has issues with the box sets. For example, it completely skips over spine #841 (the Lone Wolf & Cub box set). 100

Defunct Games @defunctgames.com · 28/05/2026You can see where EGM was coming from with this editorial at the start of the issue. He sums up how a lot of magazines felt at the time. (Note: EGM's 8.4 out of 10 average is on the lower side of the scale.) "How many frickin' cuddly character-based 3D adventure games do we actually need on N64?" 110
Defunct Games @defunctgames.com · 28/05/2026There was some question going into the DK64 launch as to whether or not the high price and competition might derail Donkey Kong's N64 debut. $70 was substantially more than the $40 - $50 PS1 games at the time. Plus, fears of 3D platforming fatigue. 110

Defunct Games @defunctgames.com · 07/05/2026I don't necessarily disagree with Next Generation' review of Riven, but I just can't get over how much it's dripping with disdain and condescension for anybody who liked the first game. 131
