deez-makes-suits.bsky.social @deez-makes-suits.bsky.social · 23/09/2026It's important to note that Nintendo never owned a controlling stake in Rare, and very publicly declined to buy the rest of them when the Stampers wanted to retire. Going to 100% Microsoft ownership was crucially the loss of their independence. And they were soon doing middle tier work for MS. 110

The rare pixie dust fled to dozens of UK indie devs long ago. Where it flourishes as much as ever. 010

deez-makes-suits.bsky.social @deez-makes-suits.bsky.social · 09/09/2026And yes, it prints with lots of zits and stringing. I think that's just the nature of the material. Its expanding foam, so the amount coming from the nozzle isn't as precise as you'd usually get. Sometimes its a little under, sometimes its a little over. It all buffs out. 170
deez-makes-suits.bsky.social @deez-makes-suits.bsky.social · 09/09/2026And here's the timelapse, as you can see, the inside is a lot more glove like, rather than being molded to the hand. Although that's still something I can absolutely do, it's just whose hand do you mold it to? Is there a generic 'tight fit' I can design? Some kind of structure like ribbing? 2111
deez-makes-suits.bsky.social @deez-makes-suits.bsky.social · 09/09/2026First print of the cartoon glove! It’s crazily light, but a little stiffer as I printed it with double walls. It’s also a shell rather than having a human hand scan inset into it, so theres not as much leverage over the thumb. Too much space. I’m just trying stuff. These will probably be painted. 49313

deez-makes-suits.bsky.social @deez-makes-suits.bsky.social · 02/09/2026This was supposed to demonstrate that Aero TPU is horribly heat sensitive, and will melt under boiling water… But, actually.. it did pretty well. Swelled up, then shrank back. Umm… well done Aero TPU We’re done here. 180
deez-makes-suits.bsky.social @deez-makes-suits.bsky.social · 02/09/2026Now, no one is making costume stuff out of 40mm thick flex TPU. They will print it 5mm to 10mm thick shell so it has more give to it. But with a lump this thick it really shows the difference you get with foaming TPU. Also, one cube cost me £2 to print, the other under £1 ;) 000
deez-makes-suits.bsky.social @deez-makes-suits.bsky.social · 02/09/2026Two cubes. Both 20% gyroid infill with no walls. One is 85A flex TPU The other 85A Aero TPU Can you tell which is which? :) 3120

deez-makes-suits.bsky.social @deez-makes-suits.bsky.social · 01/09/2026Yep! Plain latex mechanically bonds (meaning it gets into all the surface bubbles) but you can still peel it off. Good ol PVA glue works to stick it properly, so does prosaide, so does rubber adhesive. Basically it's EVA foam rules. I mean, its a polyurethane at the end of the day :) 220
deez-makes-suits.bsky.social @deez-makes-suits.bsky.social · 01/09/2026It's light, but in that dry eva foam way. Flexible but not very stretchy. 000
deez-makes-suits.bsky.social @deez-makes-suits.bsky.social · 01/09/2026This is ‘foaming TPU’ printer filament, not what some people call ‘TPU foam’- which is often just printing plasticky flex TPU in a gyroid infill with no walls. So now this gets called ‘Aero TPU’ to make the distinction. It’s about the density of EVA foam. So we talking cosplay heaven here. 4342
