It's also interesting thinking about the things that *didn't* scare me. For instance, I loved 'The Dark Crystal' and it was only years later I discovered it had been nightmare fuel for many others. Likewise 'The Neverending Story', 'Return to Oz' etc... Martians and Muppet monsters, tho... jaysus.

Another one. I was unbelievably terrified of this album as a kid, a fear which unfortunately coincided with my Dad deciding to play it to death for months on end. With creepy sounds and disturbing album art, it left a serious impression on young me. Scariest alien invasion ever!

Believe it or not, I was absolutely *terrified* of these guys as a kid. Had multiple nightmares about them chasing me or coming into my bedroom at night. I used to close my eyes in fear during the title sequence when they'd appear in the arches. Weird, considering how I turned out.

While I’d normally jump on a Blu Ray release of a vintage Kaiju movie, I have a very strict criteria about only buying discs that include the original Japanese language track. And this Toho Kong flick from the 60s lacks that, so on the shelf it stays.

What's a poster you had up in your room growing up? In the late 1980s I sent away for some 'Doctor Who' posters as advertised on the last page in one of the Target novelisations. This one was my fav and hung on the bedroom wall for several years afterwards - two 1960s era Cybermen.

Had myself a midweek seaside visit. Fish & chips, 99, and a coastal walk. It’s interesting seeing the direct contrast between the wild and turbulent Atlantic coast last week in Sligo and the relative calmness of the Irish Sea on the east coast here today.

Always found it very visually pleasing how Godzilla collapses this tower using his tail. You can see the model has been precut to fall apart as required but I'm guessing it took a few takes to get it to work right.

Update: Operation took about 40 mins under local anaesthetic. They’re sending the lump away for testing as they weren’t 100% sure what it was. I wanted to keep it in a jar but oh well. I’ll have a small scar so I can bullshit people that I was attacked by a shark or something.
