do you love me? or have things gone astray? #deltarune

A digital painting of Ralsei from Deltarune. They're floating amidst a cluster of blue stars with their hands clasped together. The text reads, "i'm a princess / and i think about the diamonds in the sky too often."

real conversation i had when i stayed the night at a friends house that i think about constantly

Two furry women lounging in bed, a wolfgirl and a lynxgirl. The lynx is holding a wine glass and theyre both in their underwear. Wolfgirl says
"I feel like a LOT of Toriel porn is actually a subtle display of some sort of internalized or perhaps even EXTERNALIZED misogny because they refuse to look at her as a character in place of using her as a goat-themed MILF archetype"
"Mmhmm mmhm"
"Like, do you truly love Toriel and her fridge-shaped design and her puns and her apparent character flaws, or do you just want
a video game mommy that's popular with furries, y'know?"
"and that's completely true. A refusal to look at the character as a woman and instead a SYMBOL of a sort of idealized womanhood,
someone who cooks and cleans and fucks you rather than a person with internality"
"EXACTTLYYY"

The warm, earnest smiles and sad pleading eyes I see Kris with in fanart read to me as if it was drawn by Berdly, trying to redesign Kris as another waifu hanging off his buff shoulders after Susie and Noelle both rejected him

Deep Dive Devin (any/all?) @deepdivedevin.bsky.social · 27/09/2026

Yes I know Kris intentionally opts for emotional numbness to dampen the effects of a severe dissociative disorder that leaves them unable to fully control their mind and body, but come ON, everything we know about them pre-incident suggests they look like they'd sneak hot sauce into your cheerios

Listen I love Kris and Ralsei as a ship and will look at a million billion pieces of fanart depicting them being disgusting homosexuals (yaoi) and disgusting homosexuals (yuri), but my GOD does a lot of that art rely on Kris making expressions they would never ever allow their face to make

It's important to remind everyone that some absolute madlad, before LLMs ruined all mod voice acting forever, got a girl into a recording booth and redid every single voice line in Deus Ex to let you play as a girl www.moddb.com/mods/the-lay...

Deep Dive Devin (any/all?) @deepdivedevin.bsky.social · 14/09/2026

The Percy Jackson movies were pretty bad, Narnia only had one decent film out of them, A Series of Unfortunate Events had charm and good visuals but was confusing and messy as an adaptation, etc.

100

Deep Dive Devin (any/all?) @deepdivedevin.bsky.social · 14/09/2026

I dunno, people tended to say that because there were a lot of really unfaithful or just straight dogshit book adaptations in the 2000s. Basically everything that wasn't Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings, really.

Deep Dive Devin (any/all?) @deepdivedevin.bsky.social · 14/09/2026

See I don't think this can be the whole story, given how common a sentiment "the books are better" was up until maybe somewhere around the late 2010s

I still have a distinct memory of watching the dub in high school, seeing this scene and thinking "wow the dubbing here is REALLY bad" The guys here are animated so enthusiastically and in the dub they sound as bored as possible, the EN voice director was not trying at all here for some reason lol

100

Deep Dive Devin (any/all?) @deepdivedevin.bsky.social · 08/09/2026

well sure, but your original post gave me the impression that your point was that these games don't really mean what they're saying, not that what they're saying is unremarkable. I don't disagree that "war bad" is nothing special.

101

Deep Dive Devin (any/all?) @deepdivedevin.bsky.social · 08/09/2026

I mean. The thing you're quoting with Sundowner is a PMC guy reminiscing about how great he thought the Iraq war was. And that sentiment isn't uncommon among neoconservatives, the only difference is he says it out loud. I see politicians call for nuking nations they hate all the time nowadays

100

Deep Dive Devin (any/all?) @deepdivedevin.bsky.social · 08/09/2026

The reason chuds like Metal Gear is because of those specific aesthetics though. Solid Snake is the big man, the one tortured murder-hero who can save the world. It's not that the politics are universally-appealing, it's that they can be ignored by people who only care about the surface-level stuff

001

Deep Dive Devin (any/all?) @deepdivedevin.bsky.social · 08/09/2026

Not to accuse Metal Gear of being politically-coherent, but I feel like you're giving it too little credit. It's all over the place thematically, but nukes, war and the military-industrial complex are like the most universally-evil things in the series. They're not just there for aesthetics.
