I am following with deep concern the situation in Tigray and in the neighbouring regions of Afar and Amhara, where hostilities have once again broken out. I extend my heartfelt plea to all parties to choose the path of dialogue. 1/3

I would like to share some thoughts on my recent #ApostolicJourney to #France with the motto “That the world may have life” (cf. Jn 6:51). God alone, through his grace, can restore the Church and renew humanity, and this is precisely what is occurring in Paris, Lourdes and Metz. 1/2

Europe as we know it, with its spiritual and moral heritage, is rooted in the lives and work of men and women who lived, preached, and shared the teachings of the Gospel. From this heritage, the moral foundations of the world in which we live have been handed down to us: 1/2

We cannot speak of #Europe without mentioning Christianity. Robert Schuman was well aware of this when he stated: “Christianity has taught that all people are equal by nature, children of the same God, redeemed by the same Christ, without distinction of race, colour, class, or profession. 1/2

Invoking the name of God to legitimize violence or oppression constitutes a profanation of His name. Nothing that violates human dignity can claim authentic divine inspiration. Religious discourse must constantly call for hearts and words to be disarmed. #ApostolicJourney #France

Mary comes to remind us of the greatness and richness of our calling to life, to eternal life. In the face of current trends that seek to redefine the value of human life in illness, suffering, and old age, the grotto of Massabielle stands as a place of Christian hope. 1/2

The #GospelOfTheDay is a call to conversion, both tender and urgent. God wants us to live, to open our eyes, and return to Him. To repent is to leave the paths on which we lost our way, and to follow the Way of Life, opening our hearts to the sole joy that never fades.

For Christians, the poor are not a sociological category, but the very ‘flesh’ of Christ. Christ, poor and crucified, continues to allow Himself to be encountered and loved through these men and women, who call us to go beyond ourselves and to dare to practice charity. #ApostolicJourney #France

It is not always easy to understand and accept God’s ways, especially when they're very far from our own. Then the temptation arises — against all the reasoning of faith — to think that the Lord is the one who is wrong, or worse still, that he is not listening to us or is not concerned about us. 1/3
