Surely one day we'll get that avatar rework. Surely.

Still, I feel there probably could have been a better way to keep that original design as the plume was iconic. I suppose those plumes were an iconic aspect that was lost.

I agree that the designs differentiate drastically in comparison to OSRS. As I said earlier, I think the change is to help differentiate the feeling of progression to a more extreme degree. The armor design progression doesn't change until you reach boss armors in OSRS. I'm RS3, it's very clear.

Bronze armor in OSRS. The difference between this and rune is simply a color change.

Bronze armor in RS3. There are notable differences in the styles. Bronze has a more "patched together look".

Deejay Speedwagon @deejayspeedwagon.bsky.social · 03/11/2025

I think RS3 as a whole needs to have a more cohesive art style and I feel reverting back to a OSRS designs would be stepping in the opposite direction. I'm not a fan of the new "waxy" art style seen in say the latest premier armors, but the RS3 designs for Barrows still share the original design.

Deejay Speedwagon @deejayspeedwagon.bsky.social · 03/11/2025

I won't lie, I actually find the helmet of RS3 to be iconic and stand out a lot. Most of the armor sets are visually different from one another which gives a scale of progression rather than the OSRS design which is just a color swap. As a colorblind person, I can't differentiate rune & mithril.

I'm so used to bar bathrooms with cutesy signs that I had to stop here and ask myself if I was a Mario or a Wario

a sign with an M on it that is definitely Mario adjacent

an upside down m, also known as a "wario symbol"

Just remember everyone, our game is speedrunner friendly, which means there won't be a single cutscene you can't skip! Our writer will only cry just a little bit whenever you do skip, but they'll understand.

Seeing a lot of folks migrating from Twitter posting images without ALT text, so a reminder! Try to use ALT text! It helps folks who are blind or vision-impaired know the context of your images. Ex: If you post, "look at this cool thing!" they won't know what your image is about, bc no ALT text!

How does alt text provide context for humans?

Low and/or impaired vision
Alt text can help people with low or impaired vision and different learning abilities interact with the content on your site.

Use of screen readers
Alt attributes enable screen readers to read the information about on-page images.

Image load issues
Alt text can provide context when images are unable to load due to connectivity issues or device settings.
