The accountability didn't disappear. It just got buried deep enough that nobody has to feel it until something goes wrong. And when something goes wrong at scale, feeling it is no longer optional. This is the part of the AI conversation that keeps getting skipped. #DecisionIntelligence

“The LLM decided” is not an explanation. It's a gap where an explanation should be. Every automated outcome has a human lineage: someone chose the objective, set the constraints, and signed off on deployment.

These so called "AI layoffs" are most likely to happen at companies who are doing the least AI. 🧐 Here's my deep dive: Who's on team Medium? bit.ly/4g0zJzb Who's on team Substack? bit.ly/quaesita_lay...

AI sees what you did, not why you did it. It captures patterns in behavior, not the intent behind decisions. Patterns are useful. Purpose still belongs to humans. We’ll talk about this in the latest cohort of my course. Live Q&A is at 8 AM ET on Monday. Don’t miss it! decisiongptcourse.com

The more powerful AI gets, the more valuable restraint becomes. All these new developments can sometimes trigger the wrong instinct: Automate all the things. Easy there 😄 Just because you can delegate to a machine doesn’t mean you’ve found leverage.

AI-first isn’t a tech mandate. It’s a decision-making posture. If something works well without AI, that’s often a feature, not a failure. If you want to get better at making those calls: decisiongptcourse.com 📅 April 21, Tuesday, 2 PM ET #DecisionIntelligence #AILeadership #StrategicThinking

Starting with AI is often how teams get it wrong. Start with the decision. Then the outcome. Then the constraints. Then the way of working. Then, with the tool. Sometimes that tool is AI. Sometimes it isn’t. We’ll talk about how to tell the difference: decisiongptcourse.com 📅 April 21, 2 PM ET

Someone has to help secure that ecosystem. Anthropic is likely to make its money elsewhere, which gives it every reason to want serious defenders to be well equipped.

Cassie Kozyrkov @decisionleader.bsky.social · 10/04/2026
I also do not think this is mainly charity. Any company that wants agentic AI in the enterprise has a vested interest in a less porous software ecosystem. If you want agentic systems, you need secure boundaries. Not just in your own software, but across the ecosystem those systems depend on.

The public is just noticing now because the rhetoric is about a “scary model.”

Cassie Kozyrkov @decisionleader.bsky.social · 10/04/2026
... the collaboration. Defenders have that advantage and they're insisting on keeping it. And none of that is strange in cybersecurity. Even competitors collaborate when the threat is serious enough. Selective sharing among serious defenders is not unusual. It is how this field has always worked.

Cassie Kozyrkov @decisionleader.bsky.social · 10/04/2026
The attacker only needs one gap. The defender has to cover them all. If there is a real capability leap here, defenders need the head start. It's called the defender's dilemma: attackers have had the advantage since the dawn of the field, but not the personnel numbers, the tools, the funding, or

Cassie Kozyrkov @decisionleader.bsky.social · 10/04/2026
That is why I think this is, first and foremost, a #cybersecurity story. It is a story about who gets a cyber capability jump first: attackers or defenders.

Cassie Kozyrkov @decisionleader.bsky.social · 10/04/2026
So who most wants a model like this, and knows exactly what to do with it? Cyber defenders and cyber criminals.
100 0
Cassie Kozyrkov @decisionleader.bsky.social · 10/04/2026
Probably not most enterprises either, given how many are still struggling to find real use for the AI they already have. The bottleneck is usually not the model. It is the workflow redesign. That is hard. There is still a lot of capability overhang.

If Mythos is a 10 trillion parameter dense model as some rumors suggest, back-of-the-envelope math puts cost per token on the order of 1000x Claude Opus’s public price (not cost) per token. Even if it is sparse, the economics are still intense.
100 0
Cassie Kozyrkov @decisionleader.bsky.social · 10/04/2026
Even if Mythos is a real capability jump, that does not make this a sci-fi story. It makes it a story about economics, deployment, and who can actually make use of a model this costly and this powerful.
