#31daysofgraves #Faith In the the tiny churchyard on St Martin’s Idles of Scilly. I only saw a couple of words and scraped away the leaves. I loved that quote

#31daysofgraves Language Ward Brinley Owens’ father died in 1919 presumably just before this inscription was added to his son’s grave Amavimus, Amamus, Amabimus The Latin means “We loved, we love, we continue to love" Olive, his mother lived to be 98. Ward was an insurance clerk before the war
“The only son of his mother and she was a widow”

#31daysofgraves Day 14 brick A headstone I found on "brick beach" at Hightown where rubble from the Liverpool blitz was dumped in 1942. I found a gravestone in the bricks! I discovered the family’s history from one small chunk of headstone. historicalclues.blogspot.com/2025/02/

#AdoorableThursday Something a bit different! This is the original door of the parcel shed of Bellingham station Amy Daley scratched her name on it and proudly put her occupation as “ portress”1915 It was a hub for soldiers and equipment so she would have been very busy. Lovely history! #WW1
I found Amy on the census. Her dad worked for the railway so I wonder if that’s how she got the job. Also, she married in 1921 and her husband also worked in the railway.
