I've never before received a *gift-wrapped* author copy! Thank you to @lyradora.bsky.social for including me. . . and making me sad that I had to break the wrapping to get to the goods!

There is some *lovely* human-made character art here, which is so difficult to find in the age of slop. Go take a look!

My gardenias are almost seventeen years old. They tower over my yard. . . and haven't bloomed since they were ten. Send me a poem to revive them!

I am *loving* Nighthawks so far. The writing is *smart*, and NPCs don't do the *convenient* thing for the player character--sometimes, they can be damned *inconvenient* and annoyingly smart, in a "Damnit, how'd you find out I told the doctor THAT??" kind of way. :D

I've been quiet about this one until I had some definite news, but this book is available now!! It's a book that's both taken a long time to come to fruition and a whirlwind of a rush at the same time. Published by Island of Wak-Wak, the same as my poetry chapbook from two years ago.
cover art, text reads "Daniel Ausema, The Fall of the City of Bells"; images from the public domain shows monks pulling the ropes on a line of bells in an old building

This is live now! I loved Redfern's emotive, yet philosophical reading! As I noted elsewhere, this story is a masterclass in the effective use of *refrain*.

Thanks for having me! Really enjoyed Redfern's story; masterclass in philosophy and the use of refrain as a structural device!

The story I've been working on was *supposed* to land at 6k words. Nice. Neat. Marketable. Damnit, brain, I did NOT need to write a third novella this year! They're hard to sell! Not to mention it's a weird blend of genres that is ALSO unsellable. *grump* Anyway. Finishing the thing.

We don't know each other, but your post about Rodney hits me squarely in the "old pet" feels. It's bittersweet, but while your house is now empty, you did amazing things for him, and he got an extra eleven months there at the end that he might not have otherwise. <3 Thank you for sharing this.

I sat, terrified, in the passenger seat every day while my son piloted to and from school. I was . . . marginally okay then. I had time off from that, and this summer, my husband had kiddo drive us to lunch. We are talking full-fledged panic attack in the back seat for me. Heart rate, breathing, ugh
