Although Stan Lee and Steve Ditko introduced the superhero Spider-Man in a 1962 anthology comic book (Amazing Fantasy #15), the word "spiderman" predates the character. It's recorded c. 1954 as a word for a steeplejack, a person who scales tall structures to perform maintenance or construction.

I just finished the #NationalTheatreLive premier of "Waitress." Beautiful. Such a rich experience. I was also struck by the classy way the production treated the band with respect, as if it were a leading cast member. Thank you to every single person who made it possible for me to see this.
