BPJS is a blessing (most of the times) but I'm tired and cranky, okay?

Other than the stupidity of only having one person doing all that, it doesn't help that most of the people who use our national insurance healthcare system aren't digitally literate enough to pre-register like I did, which leads to longer lines.

I've been at this hospital for almost four hours, and that's with me skipping the initial registration because I pre-registered online! Guess how long I spent seeing my doctor? 5 mins. Like a third of this waiting is to schedule the next consult. With the same admin who is also doing registration

I understand waiting a long time at the pharmacy. I understand waiting a long time to see the doctor. Not really things you should rush. What I don't freaking understand is why there is only a SINGULAR admin when there are DOZENS of patients waiting to be registered.

Don't you just hate it when your hypomania ends in the middle of three projects, and you realize just how tired you are and how much money you've already sunk into it, but you kinda just want to go to sleep and do nothing else bc the depression is starting to kick in, instead of finishing them?

I get it's protocol and better safe than sorry and all. There were several times when the pharmacist in the back prepped the wrong meds and the one on the counter caught it. But ma'am I've been in this hospital for six hours and I just want to go home.

Dea Ratna @dearatna.bsky.social · 14/03/2026
I've always found it funny, bc I'm delirious from waiting for hours, that the pharmacist has to tell me what meds, when I'm supposed to take it, and how much, when I've pretty much been on the same cocktail of meds for months, maybe even over a year.

But it would be really fucking nice to know which is which, so I know how to deal with it properly.

Dea Ratna @dearatna.bsky.social · 04/03/2026
The answer is probably, like most things, complicated. Look, most of the time I'm pretty stable, but the meds don't completely get rid of the episodes; they're just less invasive to me being a functional human when they do happen.

Dea Ratna @dearatna.bsky.social · 04/03/2026
But then I just sat for like 4 hours straight, completely forgetting about lunch, to write a 1.5k-word story, which is usually more in line with my creative, aka manic, episodes. I don't do that when I'm depressed. So which is it?!
110
Dea Ratna @dearatna.bsky.social · 04/03/2026
The thing (for me) about being BP2 and medicated is that it's getting harder and harder for me to tell the difference between a manic episode and a depressive one. For the last couple of days, I've had this sadness, and I haven't eaten much. So I thought, here we go, oncoming depressive episode.

Just want to share something cool. This photo, often referred to as The Afghan Girl, is one that most if not all photography students have learned. I have seen it many, many times, but I never thought I'd see it in the flesh, as it was first meant to be presented to the world.

The thing about having consumption being the theme of what I'll work on this year is...don't start with playing The Witcher 3! I had the first draft of this written at the end of December, but finally, here it is. #videogame #deathoftheauthor medium.com/@hypercaring...

*but also another caveat, it's not perfect and the waiting is super fucking long and the doctors and nurses should be paid more but I'll take my free meds with 5 hours of waiting rather than pay half my paycheck every month thank you very much

I was sick and tired of taking this cocktail of drugs when I felt fine. But that's the thing. The meds are the things that MADE me feel fine. Today was just another reminder that yes, taking all these pills is annoying, but without it, it's more annoying.

I've been taking meds for my bipolar 2 for the past year or so. I've forgotten taking them every now and then but not like yesterday. Yesterday, I didn't take any meds at all because I was too distracted playing Witcher 3. Today I had a panic attack for the first time in around a year.

Now back to the elderly Chinese women I saw in Singapore. There's probably some truth to the not giving a fuck as almost all of them had very short hair, aka easier to maintain. But aging also had an effect. Isn't the human body so interesting?

In my early twenties, I mentioned in a conversation with my friend about my 'straight' hair, and she looked at me weirdly. I studied myself closer in the mirror, and yeah, she was right. My hair had some wave to it, a 2A-B. It's just that I had been cutting it too short that the wave didn't form.

But as I grew older, I noticed it happening with my hair. Looking at photos from when I was a kid, I had straight hair, probably a 1B or 1C on the texture scale. I remember my hair would get so poofy after my mom cut it into a bob,

I first suspected this when I was living in Singapore. I noticed many elderly women of Chinese heritage have curly hair. I don't think I've ever seen a younger Chinese woman with curly hair. Now it could just be that elderly mentality of who gives a damn and not straightening their hair anymore

I blame it on the shitty literary program in high school. And by that, I mean there was no literary program. We had to read books when I was in middle school in the States. Here, they just shove you a book of questions and answers, and to make sure you memorize them so you can get a good test score

We've since ended our interaction (I think, I didn't see another reply and she sent payment for the trial articles) but I'm still pissed. I don't like being accused of something I didn't do and she never acknowledged that I didn't actually plagiarize anything.

A was-potential client accused me of using AI and plagiarize another article when I did not do that at all. If you look at my previous posts you'd get more detail, but tldr I tried to prove to her that I didn't use AI. She then told me that I should 'take criticism better.'

I have so much anger energy that I could barely eat earlier. Do I just punch things??? Do I yell?? I already did my cardio exercise for the day but that reply of hers made me angry again. What do???? Argh!!! BTW it feels like the hypomania is kicking in AND THAT'S NOT GOOD FOR ANGER I ASSUME.

Dea Ratna @dearatna.bsky.social · 01/08/2025
Y'all, I don't handle anger well, turns out. I'm not usually an angry person (like almost never) so I never worked on this when I was regularly meeting my therapist. (Don't have money to afford her services again unfortunately.) What do I do with this? How does anger management work????

Dea Ratna @dearatna.bsky.social · 01/08/2025
I didn't even have access to the internet until I was in high school!!! But also that shouldn't matter because I DIDN'T AND WOULD NEVER USE AI BECAUSE I MAKE IT A POINT OF PRIDE THAT I DON'T. AGH, this is so frustrating.

Dea Ratna @dearatna.bsky.social · 01/08/2025
UPDATE: She replied that my work was "too good and polished" to not have been generated by AI. LIKE WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK??!! Then she said something about how my "generation" is too reliant on AI and hers doesn't. Because she's fifty. So??? I'm 35. I didn't grow up on AI.

Dea Ratna @dearatna.bsky.social · 01/08/2025
If my 5+ years of experience still don't deter hirers from thinking I used AI because the AI checker said so, then new writers are so fucked. I think I'll stick to publishing my writing on my own sites for the next month or so.
