Our government is now paying Middle East allies $5B (of our money) to enhance their energy infrastructure to adapt to a world where the Strait of Hormuz is no longer consistently open. This is an acknowledgment of a humiliating loss to Iran.

Thom Tillis, Bill Cassiday, and John Cornyn had moments of clarity where they had a spine once or twice. And yet after getting railroaded for it, they still can’t bring themselves to do the right thing. And these guys are supposed to be….”the good ones?”

Narrator: Trump thinks he can do whatever he wants because the Supreme Court told him he could while shielding him from criminal prosecution.

Susan Collins proved last night that she is a prototypical creature of Washington who can’t bring herself to retire because she doesn’t want to have to think about all the wreckage she has caused.

Corporate capture of the political system halts innovation and leads to low growth. It entrenches elite corporate interests, keeps wealth locked at the top, and smothers risk-taking, job creation, and small business. And then the economy suffers.

Yesterday SCOTUS heard arguments on whether we can sue oil companies for climate change. We all know they are responsible; and so do they. That’s why they rushed to their “Big Daddy” Supreme Court to try to argue they are not.

Sam Altman is the most inept, incapable, foot-in-mouth spokesperson for his own industry in the history of business. He should continue his public statements as often as possible.

Today is the first day of the new Supreme Court term. And as this Court has done in years past, they will once again seek to mainstream conservative fantasies into law, including: - establishing a 2A right to AR15s - saying we can’t sue oil companies for climate change

That is 150 years, collectively, of American law eliminated in just a few months. That’s just not how law works.

Supreme Court expansion is ‘a concerted effort to intimidate the court,' Justice Alito says
Despite Americans' eroding trust in the Supreme Court, Alito says he's not discussed growing calls for expanding the court and setting term limits.

The Constitution is clear that Congress can to regulate the Court, including its size and jurisdiction. Statements like this reflect how the Court has been acting — that it is above the Constituion rather than within it. He is a living embodiment of the problems with lifetime appointments.

In Rucho v. Common Cause (2019), SCOTUS even found gerrymandering to be problematic but refused to do anything about it.

Reminder that SCOTUS is directly responsible for the political extremism and instability of the past two years because it could have stopped Republican gerrymanders, it refused, and those gerrymanders resulted in Republicans barely winning the House in 2024. SCOTUS must be reformed.

The thing to remember about Eric Schmitt and Katie Britt is that they planned this out in advance. This plot was hatched, passed several layers of internal review, was approved by Schmitt and Britt and no one caught the obvious mistake. These people are making decisions about our future.

Excusing elected officials who spout outrageous lies as “just politics” is immoral and must end. This attitude keeps clowns in office who don’t take the job seriously and don’t care about our children’s futures. Today, I’m talking about Eric Schmitt.

He taught about his time in Congress post-Watergate — when Democrats had a supermajority, overrode vetos (12 overrides of President Ford in two years), and instituted reforms. Congress basically ran the country to limit the power of the president. This is possible.

When they do not — they embolden perpetrators to commit sexual assault because they know they won’t face consequences. If a prosecutor doesn’t want to bring a criminal prosecution for sexual assault, they need to be thrown out of office.
010
Jonathan Dean @dean4il.bsky.social · 27/09/2026
Local prosecutors need to toughen up and take difficult sexual assault cases to trial. It’s well known in the legal community that prosecutors will make any excuse to not bring charges against a credibly accused rapist.

The Cornell administrators that covered-up this brutal crime should be in jail right next to the rapist-students. The Tompkins County District Attorney needs to reopen the investigation and include the university administrators.

Alito, Roberts, and Thomas have all been personally enriched from oil companies. So they should recuse themselves from Suncor v. Boulder County, where they will decide if oil companies can be held liable for climate change. They all have a massive conflict of interest.

While it is true that changes for the upcoming elections “should be limited,” practically speaking, Republican state officials have been frequently looking for reasons to violate election law to achieve an electoral advantage. This hands them another one.

Jonathan Dean @dean4il.bsky.social · 25/09/2026
While I agree with this and it is correct, Republicans have shown time and again they will disregard established election law and this decision gives them a “reason” to do so.
