Reminder that SCOTUS is directly responsible for the political extremism and instability of the past two years because it could have stopped Republican gerrymanders, it refused, and those gerrymanders resulted in Republicans barely winning the House in 2024. SCOTUS must be reformed.

Congress is so broken because every attempt they have made to fix themselves (ie campaign finance reform, Voting Rights Act, gerrymandering ban, etc) has been struck down by SCOTUS. Reforming SCOTUS has to be first on the agenda in 2029. Or else nothing else will survive.

Susan Collins’s corruption was made possible by Citizens United. In that opinion, the Republican Court went out of its way to say that pay-to-play political contributions don’t even raise the “appearance of corruption.” So she thought she could get away with this, courtesy of SCOTUS.
