O me! O life! – Walt Whitman The question, O me! so sad, recurring—What good amid these, O me, O life? Answer. That you are here—that life exists and identity, That the powerful play goes on, and you may contribute a verse. #poetry

*Fire and Ice* -Robert Frost Some say the world will end in fire, Some say in ice. From what I’ve tasted of desire I hold with those who favor fire. But if it had to perish twice, I think I know enough of hate To say that for destruction ice Is also great And would suffice.

The water hits her bare back
a soft patter
incongruent with the beats
beneath the surface of listless flesh.
Here, among the fog of mirrors and the shroud of mist,
she lets them come.
They mix with warm water on their descent,
hidden brine cascading her skin
into the silver lattice,
marking the hem between the seen and unseen.
Perhaps they’ll make their way to the sea,
and part of her would be home,
always.

Blow a wind across your tongue,
the breath from Mondays lost,
warm and threadbare.

The fading trill of Saturdays old,
which found her lipping melodies

what she once took for song
folded in slight plumes of stardust
is only molecules searching for sun
on minuscule faces.

Hovering at her lips like a spirit
caught between the living and the gone,

she lets it spill from that narrow
passageway,
her exhale,
her bit of Sunday still
beholden only to the tide.

Silence is the starkest ink she fills her pen with it, and shooting stars become daggers aiming for her flesh What is real? Her heart plays fast & coy while she stacks flimsy dreams upon phantom shoulders Desire and reality growl at one another in a lonely room with no brick to conjure a bridge.
Dim room with two windows, a wooden chair, and a red rose resting on top.

Van Gogh used repetition not as habit but devotion—wheatfields, trees, skies—the same subjects prayed through in different colors.

She presses it down,
down
to the lowest point in her heart
to the cracked floorboard of her soul.
Still, it rises…
the jagged illusion
the torn sliver of time
the misplaced eternity.

Still, it surfaces…
the rugged skin on weary hands
the patient kiss that lost its way
before it knew it was lost.

Direction is her anti-muse,
compasses slip through her fingers
like crushed Mardi Gras beads
scattering dark alleys.

He was her wayfinder,
but directions themselves have evaporated
into roadway mirages,
North is south,
East is a birdsong caught only once
at dawn’s thinnest seam.
and west is gone,
gone.

If she closes her eyes and follows
those burning edges of thought
back to the sand where she sat alone,
will the photos realign?
If she sits under Jupiter,
untangles her heart from those
floating moons, will faces fade?

She bargains with rings,
tree and golden, armored and broken,
but the Bodhi will not have her,
and the stars banished her
lucid ages ago,
wise to her supplicating for light.

Life slipped her its number on a match sleeve,
she’s kept it in her pocket,
waiting for the spark—
the fire, unwieldy and beautiful
tame and soft,
but flames need oxygen to reach for those long-lost tea leaves
that circle the night,
spelling beauty on worthy cheeks.

There is no trail of lamps
back to that sacred spot
where newness and dreams collide,
where unbidden hope wrangles fireflies
to drift in the warm fruit of her breath.
There’s only a photo album,
frayed and folded under her knees,
but the pictures aren’t hers
and the faces don’t belong.

It feels good to be back on the coast. Going back to work tomorrow, not so much. #oregon #photography #seascape #pnw #landscape #landscapephotography #rocks
View from a forested bluff looking down a secluded cove along the Oregon coast. Young conifers frame the foreground, with a dark sand beach curving below, small waves washing in from a calm gray-green sea. A sea stack rises from the water mid-scene, topped with wind-sculpted trees. Steep, forested cliffs line the left shore, and heavy overcast skies.

Edinburgh Castle and Rainbow :) #moody #urbanphotography #photography #edinburgh #scotland
A stunning photograph captures Edinburgh Castle perched atop a rocky crag during golden hour, bathed in warm sunset light that highlights its stone towers and battlements. A vibrant rainbow arcs gracefully across the blue sky directly above the castle, stretching from left to right. In the foreground, narrow cobblestone streets in the Old Town feature old brick and stone buildings with lit street lamps, arched doorways, stairs leading up a hill, bare winter trees, some greenery, and a distant figure in light clothing walking nearby.
