This is personal for me. All my life my father proclaimed, “I am not a sheep”. Then he joined the Church. Meanwhile mother’s favorite psalm was 23. I’m preaching that knowing that Jesus knows our voices compels us to be good shepherds to those who need us, including our neighbors, as Jesus taught.

I’m embarrassed to admit that I never really explored Caiaphus’ role in our salvation as told by the Gospel of John in today’s Gospel. Perhaps his motivation was wrong, but like Judas, he seems to be a feature of God’s plan for us. What does that really say about Caiaphus? What do you think?

Not fast enough. And not hard enough. But it’s cracking. It will fall. And while we believe in forgiveness and reconciliation, many of those who foolishly enabled this do not, despite their claims that they do. And as they suffer because of the fall, they will turn upon each other.
