Honestly, I feel this. Even on this site - which is 1000x better than the others - I still feel like everything is different than it was even 4 or 5 years ago...

It's been a long and winding road for this one, but I'm absolutely here for it!

My daughter once painted one. It was quite nice actually. :)

David @ddavidd.bsky.social · 24/08/2026

Hard at work designing this #boardgame for real now.

Those actually look a ton like some jelly berries that my neighbor grew when I was growing up. No idea what they were actually called. They were good! (not a recommendation to see if yours are tasty too)

Read the hobbit for the first time to my kids last year. It was a good time!

030

David @ddavidd.bsky.social · 06/08/2026

They're making a sequel?!

David @ddavidd.bsky.social · 04/08/2026

I am not hugely into trick takers, but every time I see this one, the artwork alone makes me want to try it!

I've watched just a few minutes of a StarCraft Tournament once and my head was just spinning. I'm so slow compared to them, haha!

David @ddavidd.bsky.social · 29/07/2026

Excuse me, those gelatinous blobs have NAMES.

110

David @ddavidd.bsky.social · 28/07/2026

Thank you! I quite like them :)

010

David @ddavidd.bsky.social · 28/07/2026

They're definitely headed to a party, and you know they're the life of it!

000

David @ddavidd.bsky.social · 28/07/2026

I have no idea what I'm doing, but I'm lovin' it. Originally these were just for fun, but of course I've come up with a #boardgamedesign I might try these on!

If I have my way, the final product will be even more convincing!

Meet my latest game idea: Memaw's Cookie Jar So far play tests have gone fantastic! It's not a kid's game, but my 5 & 6 year old both really like it (probably in part because of the toy cookies). And yes, that is a Pringles can substituting for a cookie jar. :) #boardgamedesign

A short Pringles can with toy cookies spilling out.

Interesting. I've really wanted to see it for quite some time now and your description just confirms that more.

David @ddavidd.bsky.social · 16/07/2026

Coming along nicely. I love them all! ... Except Cecil, but he didn't mind.

A bunch of little blob characters. Half are colored in, the other half are still outlines.

David @ddavidd.bsky.social · 16/07/2026

We tried Ponyo, which was ok. Kiki's Delivery Service is next!

David @ddavidd.bsky.social · 16/07/2026

It was a breath of fresh air. It seems so many newer movies (particularly kids movies) are cutting out anything slow-paced, but this one is slow in all the best ways. The scene where they give him the umbrella had both my older kids just giggling away.

110

David @ddavidd.bsky.social · 16/07/2026

We watched it for the first time on Father's Day and my 6yo daughter is still constantly talking about. Easily her favorite movie so far!

110

David @ddavidd.bsky.social · 16/07/2026

Ooo Ooo, I might know this one! Is it My Neighbor Totoro???

111

David @ddavidd.bsky.social · 10/07/2026

It's a good question! I've seen people discuss it before, and I can tell you why/when I use cards over dice or other randomizers. Off hand though, I can't think of anything that lays it out systematically. I'm sure one of the many books on game design out there talk about this... right?

Still thinking about our realtor who got less and less responsive until she fully ghosted us on the house we ended up buying, which was also at the top of our budget. Literally the diamond mines meme.

David @ddavidd.bsky.social · 07/07/2026

So disappointing... I was picturing your eyes turning into rainbows at first bite.

010

David @ddavidd.bsky.social · 07/07/2026

Big things are in the works... Big things...

sketches of about 30 or so little blob creatures. Some are crossed out, others are numbered and given names.

010

David @ddavidd.bsky.social · 07/07/2026

Are they as good as people say they are???

100

David @ddavidd.bsky.social · 07/07/2026

For the record, I do not recommend fulfilling a Kickstarter, moving to a new city, and taking care of a new born all at the same time. #exhausted

Very late announcement but-

Your tellin' me the Beast was 10 YEARS OLD when he was cursed????

The apple doesn't fall far from the tree?

Tried a new game idea with the kids yesterday. It was a weird middle ground between adult game and kids game that ended up not being great for either. The kids loved it anyway! They've never spent as much time playtesting a design as they did with this one. #boardgamedesign

A sheet a paper with a player aid written on the left side and a picture of a silly monster on the right side. (also a cute little minion monster)

David @ddavidd.bsky.social · 26/06/2026

I remember playing that game on the PS1's demo disc. No idea what the full game is like but man did we love the demo!

110

David @ddavidd.bsky.social · 24/06/2026

This is my exact experience as well. It used to be much crisper, maybe?

David @ddavidd.bsky.social · 23/06/2026

To anyone who thinks they hate ginger ale, please try something other than Seagrams, Schweppes or Canada Dry, they’re all F-tier ginger ales. To anyone who has and still hates it, you are dead to me.

The whole family watch My Neighbor Totoro last night. It was our first Ghibli film. The kids loved it! My wife really enjoyed it to which I was concerned about. A big hit all around!

010

David @ddavidd.bsky.social · 19/06/2026

I put the "sad" in "sadmin", or something like that.... 😀

010

David @ddavidd.bsky.social · 18/06/2026

These are great! The left one especially is good.

110

David @ddavidd.bsky.social · 18/06/2026

Well it gave me a good laugh, so it couldn't be *that* dumb of a- never mind.
