I got to watch FORGOTTEN ISLAND. Beautiful movie. I loved it! Definitely give it a chance. Here's four pictures out of context to sum it up.

"Like Chronitons Through the Hourglass" might be my favorite episode of this season of Strange New Worlds. It took two of my least favorite elements of this show & built a diamond from them (at least for this specific story). Really strong interpersonal dramatics all around. Loved it.

Got to see COYOTE VS. ACME! It was genuinely great! I continue to echo everyone's thoughts who say Zaslav sucks that he tried to bury this film. Thank you Ketchup Entertainment! I laughed a lot and had a wonderful time!

Just saw Legend of the White Dragon. It was very clearly a labor of love by all involved, unfortunately it is unmistakably compromised by JDF's death. You can tell. Some very sweet moments before and after the film, but the film itself is just not very good I'm so sorry.

This specific shot in the recent episode of Strange New Worlds is now my favorite in the series as a whole thus far. It floored me. Great episode this week. Wonderful focus on Chapel and Scotty.

Recently watched both Companion (2025) and Ex Machina (2014). It's interesting how they're in conversation with one another on their approaches to telling a similar story regarding AI. I felt Companion was fun, not exceptional, but Ex Machina was brilliant and more my jam.

Probably going to be my next entry for Beat's Bizarre Adventure. Currently reading. We'll see how it concludes, but so far I'm really enjoying it.

I really enjoyed the season finale of House of the Dragon. This has been such a solid show throughout its three seasons. Now for the ungodly two year wait for the final season. At least A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is coming back early next year.

Watched 1980's mini-series SHŌGUN. What a great show. It gets a little long at times, I also got lost a bit in the weeds in the final episode, but overall it was an incredible spectacle with a great cast. Yoko Shimada as Mariko in particular was a stand out to me. Highly recommend checking this out!

Legit forgot today was FCBD, but was able to get to LCS before they closed. Here's what I grabbed. They also had a bunch of DVDs for $1 so I grabbed these as well.

Finally exploring the War Doctor. Started with Engines of War then Only the Monstrous box set. All very Briggs heavy. EoW was marvelous, I truly enjoyed it a lot. OtM has a great John Hurt performance, but none of the stories did much for me. It was only okay. Onward to the next.

However, I am now halfway through the 11th Doctor/Valerie adventures and overall it's been pretty solid! Great opening story, some solid ideas and high concepts, with only one story I didn't fully enjoy. But the one-two punch of Curiosity Shop+Broken Hearts really got me.

Recently started listening to the 11th Doctor Chronicles, the first volume was pretty hit and miss for me, the second volume was an improvement. My favorite story overall was from vol. 2, "The Melting Pot" I thought it was really, really good.

Of the 8DA novels, I've read in full the first three. 8 Doctors is an insane opening book for a run, Vampire Science is so good it's become one of my favorite DW stories, and unfortunately I didn't care for The Bodysnatchers. Currently working my way through book 4.

Maybe I'll make a living thread of DW media I've taken in. Recently got this UNIT book Operation Fall-Out, excited to read it.

Please please please let us get a season two of #SpartacusHouseofAshur. This has been such an excellent series and worthy successor to the original. That ending is what casting aside your creative shackles and embracing the full depth of storytelling is all about.

What if Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (played by Julia Louis-Dreyfus) is revealed to be Madame Hydra in Thunderbolts*, has been undercover in the CIA, bought Avengers Tower, and ran tests on Bob Reynolds to make him a super aryan named the Sentry but it goes wrong as he is taken over by the

The 1980 David Martin K9 adventures are a lot of fun. They absolutely exist in a time period when established canon was still pretty loose, but the stories themselves are just really enjoyable. I recommend them! 💖💖

SHADOW OF DEATH (2013) 2nd Doctor and Jamie story, and the second act of Destiny of the Doctor. This one was quite good! I liked the imagery it conjured up, the sci-fi elements, and just had fun with it.

Derrick Crow @dcrow.bsky.social · 14/11/2024

HUNTERS OF EARTH (2013) Part of the 50th anniversary celebration Destiny of the Doctor featured a story for each Doctor that told individual stories, but one giant narrative. This was an alright story feat. 1st Doctor and Susan. Not mind-blowing or anything.

100

Derrick Crow @dcrow.bsky.social · 14/11/2024

SWORD OF ORION (2001) The 8th Doctor & Charlie find themselves up against the Cybermen. It's a really fun adventure. It's set amongst the backdrop of a galactic war between humans and androids. The Cybermen bridge that gap between the two.

Derrick Crow @dcrow.bsky.social · 14/11/2024

STORM WARNING (2001) -- Paul McGann's first work with Big Finish. The 8th Doctor meets Charlie (India Fisher). This is a really strong opening to a now 20+ running series for McGann. I like that it's a period piece & the alien villains were interesting.

Finally watched Jean-Luc Godard's BREATHLESS, and it really lives up to the hype. A smartly written film about a killer on the run and the girl he himself is chasing after while all she wants is independence from men like him. There's some really good dialogue in this. I liked it a lot.

000

Derrick Crow @dcrow.bsky.social · 10/11/2024

Highly, highly, highly recommend watching the 1985 film FOUR SISTERS. It's so good. Built on visual style and an absolutely gut-wrenching story (though still has a lot of fun). The actors put on incredible performances, and the camera just lets them shine. You will not regret it. 👍🏻
