I have lived in cities and in rural areas and in my experience the rural area people REALLY hate the idea of cities and how people do in them - and those in the cities could give no fucks about the how the people in rural areas do. It's often a topic of convo, the city people (AKA: "the dems").

If we only publish shit that's "new, original, or completely unusual" but not studies that "add something marginal" or "widens our understanding a bit more" - then those incremental outcomes are lost as the knowledge.

A focus on "novel" outcomes - it's truly a novel paper as nobody actually has done research on the positionality of repayment while in PSLF relative to almost any outcome so that was a misunderstanding that we probably did not do a good enough job explaining for this journal. That's also on us.

The paper examined reported suicidal ideation relative to positionality of repayment in Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) - and we tried for an international journal. That was our first mistake because PSLF is so uniquely American but I figured it was worth a shot.

What got the paper rejected was the venue and audience and two a misunderstanding of what exactly our paper added - one reviewer was focused on the "novel" aspect.

This isn't what got the paper rejected though but I am also using this paper to teach a student how to lead as first - the mistake is not the typo it's that I did not teach a process to someone that could have prevented that to start, which will also help them in the future to avoid the issue.

Reflecting on the rejection that we got yesterday. I am still pissed at myself for misreporting coefficients in two lines of the table - it was an easy catch for the reviewer (who paid attention) and was so obvious when I looked back at it.
