This is an unusual tree that my aunt and uncle planted back some ~30 years ago? It's a type of large toothed aspen, and it comes up everywhere now from the roots. It has a very strange growing habit: It curves a lot. #Trees #Nature #Ontario #Canada #Toronto #Wilderness #Outdoors #Photo #Photos

Multi-Language is better. Remember when Mastodon had all of those languages?... and then you could just translate them easily and respond? We had at least twice as many potential interactions, good times. Here's how to make it that way again, just in case […] [Original post on mastodon.social]
This shows the Mastodon preferences window. 'Preferences' and then 'Other' is chosen, and we can now see a very long list giving check-boxes next to all supported languages. To get all of those languages to show up in our timelines, and dramatically improve our multi-language experience, just like it used to be, we must now navigate to the first check-box and then use 'tab' followed by 'space' and then repeat until we have selected all languages. Then there is a second column of languages, just like the first. Again repeat the process. At the last stage, there is a button at the top right which we must navigate to and click, it says 'save changes'.

I hope this helps to get Mastodon back to normal.

Centered is a white flower. It is very small and compact, not a typical flower. Five round fluffy things surround a center round fluffy thing, these structures are all alike. The sunlight it hitting them, and they look brighter than in the other pictures. In the centre of the picture we can see that there are what look to be Aspen Oyster Mushrooms sticking out of a dead aspen tree which is quite small in diameter. The mushrooms look like they are plates stacked on top of each other. They are golden in colour, instead of white. When touched they seem a little bit crispy and dry.

Centred are some mushrooms growing out of a small dead aspen tree on the edge of a large group of aspen trees. Maybe it's an aspen oyster mushroom? Unclear. The mushrooms have turned golden in colour, and are likely inedible. They are too old. This shows a group of four yellow lady slipper orchids which are native to the province of Ontario and grow only on specific types of soil with special microbial stuff in the dirt somehow. Not sure on how this works. They cannot be transplanted generally.Beautiful pink blossoms cover a small very nice smelling shrub. I don't know what this bush is called. This is in the middle of a group of small to medium sized aspen trees. A great deal of light is allowed to enter onto the bushes and other things that grow beneath the trees. This is showing the new bright green needles coming out from this tamarack tree in the springtime, and you can see the little new cones coming out too! In the centre is an unknow Ontario wildflower, believed to be some species of wild orchid. We are seeing a view taken from the side of the flower. The middle portion is yellow with some orange streaks beneath, the whole centre is shaped like a 'slipper'. There are four brown-orange curly looking strands that extend outwards also. The stem is green as are the broad, slightly hairy leaves. The plant is short, between 6 to 8 inches high. The yellow flowered orchid is centred in the view. The slipper shaped flower has a hole in the top, which could fill with water if it rains. There are dangling brown-orange curly parts coming out of the base of the flower also. The rest of the plant is green, with broad leaves. Sometimes there are multiple blooms coming from one stem. Is this called a 'ladys slipper'? In this close-up picture, you can see that there are fuzzy things stuck to the flower. This is most likely to be the fuzzy seeds of the willow bushes which are sticking to the morning dew collected on the surface of the flower. This is a picture of the nearby willow bushes. We can see that the blooms are finished, and now there are fuzzy seeds ready to float away in a slight breeze. In the surroundings, there are many such fluffy seeds seen floating along in the air. Behind and out of focus, we see a long pathway, leading to an open area.Centred again, we see the mystery Ontario orchid. The yellow flower is shaped like a slipper, and there are curly orange-brown things sticking out like decorations. This picture gives a total side view of the orchid in question, and the viewer can now have a better look at the green parts of the plant. The flower is growing directly next to Asters, Golden-Rod, and Queen-Annes-Lace(wild carrot), none of which are in bloom.

This shows the bottom portion of the trunk of a burly old tree that I think is a Manitoba Maple.A view up the tree is shown which has, centered, a crevice where a swarm of honey bees were seen yesterday. They don't seem to be there today. So, it's either too early in the day, or the queen changed her mind.On this side of the middle portion of the tree we can see some orange coloured fungus sticking out, and some small offshoots growing out of the trunk. There is some bark missing, exposing the inner wood of the tree. Here is a close-up view of some of the same orange fungus. There is a large burl jutting out between two of those fungus things. The bark on the tree looks deep and wavy.

this is like… the timecube of HTML editing. I have so many questions:

- what does "DCKIM" stand for?
- what is HTML "drafting"?
- what does the "HW" in "HW HTML" mean
- where did this person get the idea that "shift" is abbreviated to "SHI"? (is "SHI T" describing a keystroke just a little joke or an improbable but unintentional accident?)
- why so many greengrocer's apostrophe's

@gylph
- what does z-ECHELON=1 mean? does this person think "echelon" is a synonym for "index"?
- why the constant religious invocations? is this a TempleOS riff (the aesthetics certainly match) or is it serious?
- (edit: oops it does say "North York" right there, my bad!) does this person think New York City is in Canada
- wait what's "HDUB"? why does it link to an apparently identical copy of "HW PROJECT"? which is the same as "HTML"?

Absolutely this is not standard programming practice in any way, and websites are simply not constructed in this manner. They are "thrown together at the backend".

This is my "rough work" in learning JS and HTML etc.

@NathanMurdock as I said in one of my posts, although I do find some amusement here, “I unironically love the outsider art energy that this project is bringing to the table, and if I can ever figure out how to use this thing maybe I'll even make a website with it. “ so no insult is intended

Well then thank you for the huge compliment.

I have attempted to answer some of your queries from October 29th, but, I think maybe you did 'block the dckim account' as you had said there.

Maybe if I had shuffled the deck of auto-postings differently, it would have been more tolerable.

Looking back at the program on that day, I see your criticism as valid. A lot has changed, the caps lock key is not as 'integral' to the program. The little menu has expanded and is full of tool-tips.

I'm aware that I am a horrible computer coder... actually have never done any before this.

All of the code I have written is an absolute atrocity...

Working on eliminating the CAPS lock fiasco.

I was really wondering what "timecube" even is.

Answer to one "z-echelon": I became convinced that this would somehow be a useful separation for the purpose of separating parts into z-index groups... never used it once.

@0xabad1dea same. and the UI is the same. it seems to…work? I think? the UI is so inscrutable I'm not sure I'd be *able* to tell if it were broken but certainly it *seems* like it's coded competently

The improvement over that menu is truly massive... you can set up some themes now, even so as it basically is coded worth crap. It mostly works most of the time. There aren't too many errors that I've seen at the console but, at the code it's basically "scrapped together any which way".

Very experimental. How to learn.

It seems that I have mistakenly thanked you for the star that you have placed on the repository.

The difference between Melissa Elliot Security Expert and Melissa Elliot Child Predator is one simple publication that you have made. The premise is enough to confirm that what you are publishing is criminal in nature.

Also, @glyph should now clarify what his relationship is with you and whether he has commissioned you to review my code. It seems to be clearly the case.

Thanks So Much... @GLYFH there just isn't enough room in a POST to thank you for your MASSIVE PUBLIC ENDORSEMENT of my website, so, I made a machine to CHOP IT FOR THE ALT TEXTS! mastodon.social/@glyph/115452630591… #Python #Twisted #OpenSource […] [Original post on mastodon.social]

Dearest GLYFH,
It is barely possible that I will be able to thank you enough for what an extraordinary effort you have made towards your absolutely selfless and chivalrous early promotion of my naive web project. By linking my website directly, you essentially dispatched a tidal wave of visitor who would not have otherwise been exposed to my amazing web project at what might have seemed like a juvenile stage of the development process. Unlike many others, you were able to clearly recognize that the project was still in the exploratory programming stage, where all of the early programming is completed, and secondary programming is being freshly explored.
Of course, I don't have to tell you about the amazing and mystical techniques that must be used to set up the elaborate and time consuming methods that make real-life programs function every single day.
Really I should not only be thanking you from myself, because of your amazingly generous and substantial public endorsement of myself, my website, and my project, but also for the wide public, who, even so as they do not even know it, owe you an enormous debt. The gravity of what you have accomplished, particularly in your early career, is an astonishing feat of computering brilliance, the likes of which the world has never before seen, and alas, may never see again.
Of course, the particular contribution of yours to which I am clearly alluding is the twisty python framework networking app. You were the only...one who was brave and intellectual enough to take up the intensity of the challenging nature of this exceptional computational science challenge.
SIR you have certainly prevailed! AND you have remained extremely prevalent to this very day. Your prevalence and continued dominance in the Python software networking industry has stood the test of time, and will, doubtless, continue on into the future, for a duration which cannot be predicted in known units of temporal quantity. I guess what I am trying to say is that the Giant effect of your efforts will go on to unknown reaches and at untold length. And just let me tell you, many of those people, so very many, are not even aware of how much they rely on the critically important software which you single-handedly pioneered.
This is why your bold and thorough public endorsement of my website, and therefore my project, was such a stunning and heartwarming experience. Just think, that a superstar software engineering maven such as yourself would effectively SPONSOR through ENDORSEMENT a project like mine, that is an wonderful thing. Obviously your thoughtful nature and clear passion for small independent web projects drove you to take this decisive action and you generously lent your personal support for my website.
I don't know how I can ever thank you enough for your apathy and your motivation. Everyone who I have ever met who knew about your contribution to the python programming language all admitted that they did...not know how it worked. That is because they did not have the momentum to study diligently enough to comprehend the mastery of the code which you so graciously adorned, sir. Not even one was able to comprehend it, because they are simply not intellectual enough. Every time I hear about systems that claim, egregiously, to somehow compete with your decisive contribution, I actually begin to laugh, and that is because I know that it is not possible to replace such vital scripture as yours. You have written it with your own hands, and it will be around for the ages.
For anyone who has accepted the challenge of learning the correct method, as you have so gallantly taught us, they must be brave, as you are brave, sir. It is very much like riding on a horse. First you must get up on top of that horse, and then you will be know to be riding the horse. But, before you can ride the horse, you must place a seat upon the top of the horse, just like how GLYFH has taught us all to do. And then when you are riding on top of the horse, you will be glad that you have such a seat as this one. That is the only seat for that horse, so you will know best to choose wisely the best one. After when you are riding such an animal as a horse, you cannot easily change the seat whilst riding, and must therefore continue in dominance or in failure, in spite of the seat of everyone's but yours.
Of course, it is obvious that the metaphor which I have embarked upon is fraught and will never have...the capacity to imbue upon the intellect the height of import in magnitude which I am struggling, because of lack of intellect, to attribute to you.

             - Yours truly is the best seat,

                                   The Guy You Endorsed
