well….the truth is that rape is massively underreported, when reported, rarely prosecuted, and when prosecuted conviction rates are around 2%ish. Male supremacy/immunity vis-a-vis sexual violence is widespread - class/race def have an impact, but broadly speaking this crosses race/class lines.

I often think about how we talk about sexual violence as “my rape.” We never do this for any other crime - it’s not “my mugger” or “my drunk driver." Even our language seems to imply that women are somehow responsible or “own” the crime, instead of the men who committed it.
