I stopped by a local bookstore this afternoon to pick up a copy of @austinkleon.bsky.social ‘s new book

Don’t Call It Art: 10 ways to create like a kid again by Austin Kleon. It is a square book with a pink cover

I’ve been trying out making #bagels lately. It has me seriously wondering if I ever need to buy them again #baking

Six bagels arranged on a cooling rack. Three are plain and the other three are covered in poppy seeds.

Among my other projects this week, I took some time to bake this lemon blueberry tart. It was a delicious success. Recipe courtesy of Sally’s Baking Addiction sallysbakingaddiction.com/lemon-bluebe...

Here is another solid page of lines—except this time the lines are drawn in short strokes instead of all the way across. This creates visible seams where the pen raised and lowered to the paper. #penplotter #plotterart #CreativeCoding

A page filled with straight black lines. There is a grid of darker bands across it

Here’s one of my plots from yesterday. Boxes! With lines in them! I’m still keeping things basic with this project. This is all stuff to build on later #penplotter #plotterart #CreativeCoding #Sketchbook

Here’s one of my plots from today. Now we have short lines! #penplotter #plotterart #CreativeCoding #algorithmicart

Columns of black lines with thin spaces between them

I squeezed in another plot today. I was inspired by some of the glitches I was seeing earlier. I just pressed my hand against the paper before I ran the plot. #penplotter

This is today’s sketch. I’m still laying the groundwork of different techniques to work with. Now we have areas with different densities of lines! Also I’m still working out how to keep the paper steady and flat. #SketchBook #penplotter

I bought a new sketchbook. I’m going to have my plotter fill it with horizontal black lines now #penplotter #codeart

I dropped a nice stack of #postcards off at the post office today #ptpx

A pile of postcards. They have a pattern of block striped tubes on them.

I’m making a new batch of pocket #notebooks (and #postcards) today. It’s an accidental lesson in manufacturing tolerances. When you put a ruler to the paper to cut it, you find out that it’s not actually a rectangle and the size isn’t actually 8.5 by 11 inches. Just, hopefully, close enough

Two partially assembled notebooks with a blue and purple pattern on the covers. There is a bone folder next to them.

It’s new notebook day 🥳 These pocket notebooks are nice and simple, but so satisfying to make. #penplotter #diy #notebooks

A sheet of paper next to an Axidraw pen plotter. It has two blocks of elaborate patterns of curves drawn on it.

Two small notebooks laying next to a stapler.

The edges of two notebooks peeking out from underneath a larger book. It is the Collected Poems of Emily Dickinson.

Genuary day2: layers on layers on layers. It didn't turn out quite how I wanted, but that's okay. Making art is just like that. #genuary #genuary2 #genuary2025 #CreativeCoding #GenerativeArt

Randomly sized and placed rectangles hatched wit orange, light blue, and purple lines. They are thickly layered on top of each other so the picture is a mess of colored moire patterns.

Genuary day 1, vertical and horizontal lines. This is the first idea that came to mind. It makes me think of a loom. #genuary #genuary2025 #genuary1 #CreativeCoding #GenerativeArt

A grid pattern made of orange, light blue, and purple lines crisscrossing

#GenerativeArt step 1: clean, mathematical precision. Step 2: make it messy

A set of green lines ending in a clean diagonal edge

A set of green lines ending in a fuzzy, but roughly diagonal edge.

Today I mailed off these postcards for the recent #plotparty over on instagram. #penplotter #generativeart

A stack of postcards. They have abstract patterns of red and black diamonds on them
