WHY CAN’T ANY PUBLIC HEALTH ORG SAY THE WORD MASK??? Mask. MASK. MAAAAAAAAAASSSK!!! 😷
A public health poster at the University of Toronto with an illustration of a doctor holding up a shield to protect himself against a bunch of different viruses moving towards him to attack his respiratory system, that reads:

PROTECT YOURSELF AND OTHERS FROM VIRUSES
• Wash your hands frequently with soap and water.
• Stay home if you feel sick.
• Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands.
• Cover your mouth and nose with your arm when sneezing or coughing.
• Eat well, rest and stay hydrated.

Do you care about bike lanes? You should because they make everyone safer! See where candidates stand on preserving, rebuilding, upgrading bike lanes & bike share👇 Once-upon-a-time cycling advocate turned bike lane destroyer Bradford has NO RESPONSE? 👀 #BikeTO #TOpoli www.cycleto.ca/2026question...
Cycle Toronto’s questionnaire for the candidates on where they stand on bike lanes. Mayor Olivia Chow responds:

REBUILD! YES
UPGRADE! YES

Hmmm I wonder what the media was talking about the year before the worst stock market crash in history that led to financial ruin for all rich people and The Great Depression for everyone else… #JustSpeculating

My favourite neighbourhood tree looking a little less vibrant this year, its leaves already curling. Could very warm summer-like temperatures in late September that quickly turned chilly in early October have stunted the colour change? Will check back in a few days. ⏳ #NotFallingForFallYet #TOphoto

I’ve seen this piece of art at the McMichael gallery, it struck me then as it does now, how giving and selflessly dedicated to community Indigenous people are, and how settlers just take without giving back, to this day. Read this short 🧵 today, National Day for Truth and Reconciliation w/ alt text

Why do people insist on engaging, sharing or even giving these kinds of “news” stories any air? They do it for the “debate” and to own or divert your attention, for the clicks and reposts, that’s why. Why are you doing unpaid labour for them that’s not just useless to society, but also harmful?

If price of item scans higher at register than price on shelf, the store (IF participating in Scanner Price Accuracy Code) must give first item for free up to $10. If item more than $10, entitled to $10 off lowest advertised price. Doesn’t apply to gas stations! www.retailcouncil.org/scanner-pric...

Accuracy Code Sticker of a sample of the sign hanging in a store that has agreed to participate in the code. My understanding is not all stores have to participate, it’s not a law, so choose who you patronize according to the list of stores participating on the website. I personally, have never had a problem getting a refund for the extra amount charged, BUT HAD NO IDEA I COULD GET ITEM FOR FREE (if under $10) if the register charged me more than shelf!

Text on poster:
Scanner Price Accuracy Code
If a scanned item without any pricing attached scans higher than the shelf price, the customer is entitled to receive that first item free up to a $10 maximum. If the item is more than $10, the customer is entitled to $10 off the lowest advertised price. The code does not apply to items priced by weight or to expired sale dates, provided the regular price is shown on the label or signage. The product must match the corresponding shelf price label to qualify. If the scanner price accuracy code problem cannot be resolved at store level, please scan the QR code to submit your complaint.

Very excited for Michael Kiwanuka’s new album! Sad he had to cancel his tour last year, was looking forward to a live performance but just happy he’s doing better and wish him all the best with his recovery. What a gift to get a new album despite his challenging year! 💖
Email screenshot: introducing the new album…
An illustrated cover of Michael in a physchedelic style with shades of pink, blue, brown, black and a white bubble font that reads FUDGE. Art work and visuals created by Michael’s friend and artist Stevie Gee.

Michael Kiwanuka's new album,
'FUDGE', is out on 23rd October 2026.
The album was written almost concurrently with the writing of Michael's fourth album 'Small Changes' back in 2023.

Any Michael Kiwanuka fans wondering how he’s doing since cancelling his tour? ❤️ I wish him well in his recovery. Such an amazing talent! Here’s the latest news from him by email:
A letter from Michael.

I'm very happy to be announcing to you my new album FUDGE. I'm especially happy because the last few months I've been battling some health problems which would heavily hinder and get in the way of me making music for the foreseeable future. A few months ago I suffered a stroke brought on by a bleed in my brain brought on by high blood pressure.
It's a long journey recovering from a stroke, which is why I missed some gigs recently out in the US, but I look forward to seeing you all soon.I'm not sure when l'll be able to be back out on the road or what that will look like, the brain injury I suffered was quite severe so there's a lot of rehab to be done, it's a long, tough journey ahead but I'm fighting to get better. It has been a difficult few months I must say but it feels like I'm on my way there now.
I want to say a special thank you to all the incredible NHS staff and every single medical professional who has helped care for me and continue to help and encourage me in my recovery. And thank you to my friends and family for their continued support and to my team who will keep you updated with all things Fudge related. This has definitely been one of the toughest challenges I've faced and I'll be happy to be on the other side of it when the time comes.
Until then I wish you all well and look forward to seeing you further down the road.
More news to come on 'Fudge' tomorrow.

This building in Vaughan, Canada, makes me very uncomfortable.
The silhouette of the ugly ‘CG Tower’ in Vaughan Metropolitan Centre in Ontario, Canada, seen from a distance at dusk, with another ugly but stable looking glass condo building to the right of it and a communication tower to the left of it. Made of brown precast brick panels, the CG Tower looks like 5 cardboard boxes all slightly smaller than the one below it, stacked on top of each other but slightly off centre so one side is hanging off the edge a little. Looking at it, it feels like a gust of wind will topple the boxes over sending them crashing down to the ground.

😎 Perfect day for a ride along the Humber River trail… or so I thought. Many felled trees from last Wednesday’s hail storm still blocking the trail forcing you to go under trees or around them through thickets and muddy patches. Took main roads back home, wasn’t having none of that again! #BikeTO
A large tree blocking the sun-dappled concrete Humber River recreational trail. Yellow hazard tape around the tree and a cyclist ahead of me crouching under the trunk of the tree, with her bike on a slant to get it under and past the tree to continue riding the trail. The second tree I encountered completely blocking the concrete trail. I thought it would be easy to walk around this one since there was a clearing and dirt to the left of the tree but it was soft mud so that was fun—NOT—getting off my wheels and shoes afterwards. The third tree in the span of 15 minutes also blocking the entire concrete path. Walked around some branches and small trees trying not to get my spokes bent. The trunk of the 3rd tree all split up, splintered and toppled over, with a second slightly thinner trunk next to the splintered one still standing. A bit of a clearing to the right of the tree that leads back to the concrete trail.

Interesting how many Americans see this breakthrough as falling behind or a failure of USA and not the win for humanity and the planet it is. We need to start thinking about ourselves as part of a collective and live collaboratively, before the conditions we created force us to die collectively.

He thinks we’re all rubes, says he’s going to ensure “Canadians’ data remains right here in Canada” when we know “sovereign data” is impossible—data companies are American, the Patriot Act gives them unlimited access to our data. Ford’s tell when lying: he says things that sound too good to be true.

One expert who spoke with Global News says American companies have access to our data, no matter where the centre is located. Evan Light is an associate professor in the Faculty of Information at the University of Toronto.

"The reality is that a lot of internet infrastructure is not in Canada, and so we still have traffic transmitting through the United States," Light said.

"Just because you have data centres in Canada doesn't mean that your data only stays here."

Glover agrees. "There are certainly ways of building data centres that protect our data, but anything that's American-owned falls under the Patriot Act, which says they can access it without even letting us know."
