Happy National BSL Day! On 28 April 2022, British Sign Language (BSL) was recognised in law in the UK, following years of campaigning led by the Deaf community. Celebrating BSL, Deaf culture, and early access to language. #NationalBSLDay #BSL #DeafCulture
A purple promotional poster for National BSL Day. At the top is a photo of a group of adults standing indoors in a classroom or meeting space, smiling and signing with their hands raised. The group appears engaged and celebratory, with one person seated in the foreground smiling while others stand behind them. The setting includes a door, brick wall, and neutral interior lighting.

Below the image, large white text reads ‘Happy National BSL Day!’ followed by the date ‘28 April 2026’.

Further text reads: ‘On 28 April 2022, British Sign Language (BSL) was recognised in law in the UK. This followed years of campaigning led by the Deaf community. Today, we celebrate BSL, Deaf culture, and the importance of early access to language for Deaf children and their families.’

At the bottom left, the text reads ‘Deafness, Cognition and Language Research Centre’. On the bottom right is the UCL logo.
