This is a matter of ancient mushroom magic, which we are sure you know all about, being Angus Stinkhorn’s only heir. Please hurry.

I'm so excited to share with I'm working on this #WIPWednesday. An AU based on the book "Shroom for Improvement," Stede is a mushroom fae & Ed's a magpie fae. It's going to be a long one, but I've got 2 ch done so far. There'll be magic, a (pervy) sentient house, and lots of shenanigans!

“You’re not going to let it go, are you?” Fang asked with a giggle.

“Nah, I’m just getting started,” Ed said, beginning to feel the effects of the mushroom tea, making his limbs all loose and tingly. “I’ve got a three-part plan,” he added, starting to slur his words a bit. “Step #1,” he counted on his fingers, “locate a mushroom fae. I asked myself: where am I most likely to find one? They like dark, dank places. Preferably with a lot of moisture in the air. The underground trainlines! And! Yay! There he was like a beautiful, grumpy lighthouse, luring me in.”

“I think, technically, you’re supposed to avoid lighthouses. They keep ya from cracking up on the rocks,” Fang inserted seriously.

“Nah, this one was calling to me like a beacon. Step #2: Get said shroom fae to agree to run some experiments on him, with him, have him open up to me about all the secret mushroom magic that might be the key to saving the Kingdom from industrial damage and unsustainable farming practices. Step #3: Experiment. Fall in love. Save the Eight and a Half Kingdoms. I’ll be known as history’s most brilliant tactician."

“You’ve got it all sussed out, don’t you?” Fang asked, full-on laughing now.

“Yeah, think I do. I should probably give back all the stuff I’ve been lifting from him over the past three years though. He thinks I’m a thief,” Ed said with a huff.

“Well, like you said, you have been taking his things,” Fang said sincerely.

“He just has so much cool stuff! So many shiny objects! Most of the time, I don’t even know I’m doing it until I get home, and oops! His pocketwatch is in my jacket. It’s like, ingrained as a magpie fae, ya know? I always give everything back to other people. I’m just having a hard time parting with his stuff.”
